Recruiting class

Hall of Fame Iowa coach here, and I have a question on Lisa's recruiting class. With all the nationwide publicity with Clark, why no Elite Athletes? We should be inking 2 or 3 for the next 2 classes. As our roster sets now sweet 16 is the limit. Anyone know what we have coming in? Transfer portal, or is that a thing in the women's game?

Top 25 recruiting class. Check out Hawkeye women's website. Two of the recruits are top 100. the third is a four star.

The next two classes are pretty set. As @gillnh2o says, next year’s class has two girls ranked in ESPN Hoop Gurlz top 100. I think AJ Ediger is top 40, and Addison O’Grady is in the 90s. Both are 6’2” or maybe a bit taller. In 2023, we again have two bigs: Hannah Stuelke and Jada Gyamfi, both 6’+, listed as wings, and Taylor McCabe, a 5’9” shooting guard.

And the rich get richer!

This is why Iowa can’t take that next step. While Iowa is happy to land a 4 star recruit you have 3 of the top 5 recruits all going to South Carolina and the other 2 going to UConn.

I don’t put this all on Bluder, I can’t imagine how challenging it would be to talk someone from DC to come to Iowa City.

Maybe we need to think out of the box. If we cannot recruit a big the traditional way perhaps we should look at some vollyball players.

Women's basketball recruiting is almost as bad as US wealth distribution. 11 of the top 20 going to just 3 schools, three more schools get two each, and the other three get just one each. When you have basically four or five schools building rosters out the top 25 then distributing the "scraps" among the rest you will never get any true parity.
