Reality is ugly sometimes (PSU Scandal)

When thinking about this the last couple days it really shows how ugly and horrible things can go.

I see alot of threads or people posting how so and so should have immediatley called the cops or beat up the predator ect.

Let's be honest it's never as simple as we want to make it in our minds.

McQueary for one - First off he is 22. At 22 I sure as heck would have been very shaken and not sure what to do. Going to my father does make sense.

McQueary dreamed of coaching at PSU - if he goes after Jopa's right hand and the image of the university. What happens to him? He knows they will squash him and his future there.

These guys are taught to protect the university at all costs that no one is better than the university (they were never protecting Sandusky, they were protecting PSU)

Again what we has is a system designed to protect the powerful and exploit the weak. It's nothing new and it happens all the time from governments to corporations to universities.

something like this should suprise me - but it doesn't and thats sad.

Sandusky knew the power he had and figured they would never really get him (though he is obviously sick and addicted to this kind of sexual behavior and knows he should stop)

Undoubtedly Paterno in the end takes the 2nd biggest hit on hits besides the sexual predator.

Gentle old Joe's good buddy was a insatiable molester and raper of boys yet gentle old Joe washed his hands of it and turned his head.

To me he has more power than the AD or anyone else. He is the one to stop it.

But what if your best friend was accused of somethign and you refused to believe it? Thought there was no way?

We are all appalled but people commonly never ever face reality no matter how bad it is.

McQeury wanted to be a coach at PSU, didn't contact the police regarding what he saw, and becomes a coach at Penn State. Coincidence, or conspiracy?

I agree with some of what you say. Although At 22 i had already lived on my own as an adult for 5 years and knew the difference between right and wrong for sometime. At 22 i would have beat the **** out of that old man for doing that to a 10 year old. No doubt in my mind. Mcqueary is a coward.

At 22 years old I had enough brains and human decency to come to the aid of a 10 year old boy being sodomized by a 60 year old man. I would have kicked the man so hard in the groin he would not have been able to use the thing ever again.

It's always amazing how we can ask people to die for this country at the age of 18.

But when they're 22 and dropping footballs on the field? Or 22 and witnessing a child be raped? We can't criticize then; they're scared, or immature.

They're an adult.

I have no love for the Ginger Assistant Coach. Sometimes, in life, we're presented with a clear choice. He made one.

22...28...does it matter? Man alive, if I was 16 and saw an adult male having anal sex with a ten year old boy I would know the right thing to do. Dream job be damned.

McQuery sold his soul.

He was 28yrs old.
and YOUR whole post makes me sick. there is such a thing as right and wrong, good and evil....u sir are justifing both of the latter. find your moral compass. guaranteed NONE of the coach staffs sons were anywhere near Sandsusky by design.

28 and 22 is a huge difference... he was a 28 year old graduate student I'm missing something somewhere.

Plus that was only a small part - McQuery is just a small time player in this.

I'm one of the few that seems to agree with you here. Anyone that says they would do this or that hasn't given it enough thought. If you have experienced anything like this, then you know that it's not that simple.

Here's what I take from everything you wrote:

I'm McQueary and I'm thinking me, me, me, me, me, PSU, me, me, me.

A decent person would have thought about that child first. I'm not saying a decent person would act without fear but they WOULD act. They would protect that child.

We are talking about college football vs a child's (or childrens') lives. Lets weigh those two things out and see which comes up as more important. If you can't immediately tell which is, imagine your child is in that locker room and decide.

Me me me me is exactly part of what I'm saying.

It's not all of it but it's a big part.

They all did everything they could to avoid getting in trouble.

This is reality and that is my point.

It's corrupt as **** but that's what happens.
