Reality check

How weird is it to type this and not get completely made fun of? Bizzaro world.

Do you think he deserves to be made fun of? I am looking at that post sideways. Campbell/ISU are a nice story, but wtf, he is making them out to be something they are not. Let it play out, let it breathe for a minute.

I don't think he does. I don't know if I necessarily agree with it, but the fact that it's close enough to not be a completely outrageous statement is weird.

Regardless of whether WVU is over rated or not, ISU beat the shit out of them without their best defensive player ( Ray Lima) and starting their 3rd string QB. Credit where it’s due...

That's the problem we have seen all of this before. It is October 14th, let's see where they are at Dec. 1st.

You can’t give Iowa State credit. This is an Iowa board.

Will Grier wasn’t a Heisman contender. WVU rolled up an amazing150 yards of offense. And Iowa did explode for 13 points at home against the Clones.

So people are ticked when we lose, but want reality checks when the year is going well. I can understand cautious optimism, and losing sucks for sure, but what's the point of being a sports fan if you can't even enjoy it when the team is winning?

Yes I know it could all come crashing down the next few weeks, but if you ask me, that's all the more reason to enjoy the present. Or maybe the Hawks go 11-1. Who knows. Looking forward to finding out.

It could be 1999 again, after all. Or for the more experienced crowd, the 1960's or 1970's. 5-1 and #19... I'll take it. I'll wager most of you would have, too, if offered that before the season started.

Just my 2 cents.

ISUck > Wisconsin right now. Maybe not a month ago. ISUck is peaking. Wisconsin is stalling out.

I don't know what the future holds for the Hox except for this: I know that our tight ends are a matchup nightmare from hell for opposing D coordinators, and I know that Bri also knows this.

Iowa State is playing really well right now. I'm glad we played them before they started to figure themselves out. We're also playing a lot better than we were when we played last month, and I think we'd still beat them, but it wouldn't be 13-3.

OK. This is snarky (sarcastic). My apologies.

Don’t dismiss that ISU v Wisconsin is a debate. If you consider Badger game a “quality loss” for Iowa. ISU is “quality win.”

I'm not predicting or expecting Iowa to "run the table" I'm just so happy to see Iowa throwing the ball again and being unpredictable. For me that's enough, just seeing exciting football again! I was getting too good at calling Iowa's plays in advance. I hope this is here to stay.

All hawk fans are feeling real good today, but......Maryland, Penn St, and Purdue are all better than Minnesota and Indiana. We could win each of these....or lose each of these. Team better stay focused and take care of business. Last year after Ohio St win, loss to Wisky, loss to Purdue

Yes, but this teams just feels more complete than last years team. Hell, maybe even more than the 2015 team.

But, I agree, next games are no gimmees.

This is where I'm trying to get my head and keep it. Otherwise yes, what is the point. Particularly what I view as the unhealthy mindset that was originally expressed in the ladder to nowhere thread. Like the entire season is moot because we lost one game.

I don’t see any evidence to suggest that Maryland is better than Indiana or Minnesota. Really the same could be said about Purdue, although they have the playmakers that will give Iowa problems.

Punting is much better and actually been a weapon for us this year at times. We have a solid team and at times I say a very solid team. I think it comes down to QB play is how our record will be. It could be 11-1 or we could split the rest of the games. We still need to make better decisions on receiving KOs. Kind of a head scratcher at times. My glass is half full on this team. Stay healthy for the most part, we have a great season.
