Ready for 10 conference games to balance the schedule?

Yes, that is true and I see that part of the argument. But you dont think playing Texas or Texas A&M in Kinnick then in Texas would not be high intensity. Those are top teams usually.
Plus there are worse things in life then to go South or West (didn't we used to play Az state once and awhile?) In September.
That's like a 3 day weekend before winter.
Not to mention has anyone else noticed some recruits saying "nobody even knows where Iowa is".
That makes me sad and sad spelled backwards is das and das not good. Lol

Fry and Ferentz dont or didnt like the west coast with the time change thing I guess it is. But sometimes you have to go on the road in the non-conf unless you are Georgia or Bama.

Oh boo hoo about the time change. Do you have any idea of the people who deal with it all the time?
Everyone has to twice a year with daylight savings time. So whatever that sounds like a pansie answer.

The 2010 game at Arizona was soul crushing. The team started off the game playing like crap. They made a valiant effort at a come back, only to flop at the end. The game really physically beat up the team, and they just kept losing key guys through the season.

Ferentz hasn't been inclined to repeat. The whole long distance travel, time change, late late night game, against opponents too far away to care, was a risky way to start off a season. The stinker against Arizona State in 2004 only reinforced the point.

The home and away with Oregon during Fry's years was downright ugly.

Was there for that one. Was hotter than h*ll !!! It isn't just the humidity, it's the heat!

Probably would be although we all don't know so many A&M fans that we give crap to like we do Clone fans. But I don't think A&M would sign on to that deal. At best we would have to do a "neutral" site game to play a team toward the top. But I think we know ISU killed that with insistence that we play every year. I'd be okay with playing ISU every other year. But I don't think we should drop it.

That's how I feel, every other year and throw in some middle of the pack other P5 programs.
ISU and Iowa both should be able to get behind that.
I mean imagine this, half of the state doesn't know anything about ISU's team and they might watch it if there is nothing else on or to do. Now imagine how anyone outside the state is.
Personally I catch maybe 3 games a year. 1 against Iowa!!
It's not that I dislike them, I hope they win all their games, except against Iowa. I feel the same about UNI and all Iowa schools.
I absolutely love college football, but until someone else takes care of every other aspect of my life, I've got things to do. I won't miss a Hawkeye game, even if it's on the radio while driving though.
A home and away with ISU is as close to a home and home as you can get. The only other difference would be then, that say we played another P5 school every other year, once every 4 years you would have a true road game. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. From an excitement level and from a brand marketing level.
But again, nobody is paying me for my opinion.

Kirk has basically said he doesn't want to do that. So it's not going to happen with or without ISU. He's flat out said playing top teams in the noncon is a bad idea.

I do have an agenda to dump ISU or not play them as much, I have been watching these games since the renewal in the late 1970's and the familiarity of the program/game and the teams makes it more boring of a game to me and others I have talked to than if the hawks scheduled other home and home games with a lot of other teams.

It might be boring to you, but there have been five sellouts at Kinnick in the last four years, and two of them were against ISU.

For the record I've long been for dropping this game.

Selling out an ISU game would be easier if it we're every other year, don't you think? Throw a game against another P5 contender in that 4 year cycle and it would seem much easier to sell out and put more eyes on TV's, a good 3/4 of the time for said one non conference slot.

And Oregon wasnt even that great back then. I am sure west coast teams hate to fly over two time zones East and then play an 11 AM game which is 9 AM for them., that has to be hard like Iowa kicking off at 7:30 in the Pacific Time zone (and you aint playing a 11 or 2:30 game in Arizona in Sept.)

The Ducks weren't all that. For those who constantly bicker about upgrading the non-con schedule it would simply mean more of games just like those. If Iowa were to even consider such a thing there would have to be a complete and total turnaround of game philosophy. We'd have to plan and scheme for every game like tOSU and Nebby last year. No more close to the vest play-calling and let the defense win it for you. Not going to happen during this regime.

Sellouts, Iowa gets an amazing amount of money from TV now and they are getting rid of some seats in the new North endzone and adding some higher priced luxury seats. Minnesota's old stadium was 60K then 60K or thereabouts in the old humphrey dome, now they only have 48K

Money is in tv now I dispute your only 5 sellouts in Kinnick in the last 4 years because I was at almost all those games and the stadium was full many times more than 5. And a sellout is different than actual attendance
