B1G Predictions: Bowl Slotting | Hawkeye Nation

I do recall taking a lot of heat around here for being a Michigan lover, when I picked them 9-3 ;)

As usual, more misses than hits with these things but I do enjoy doing them. I was within one game of the win total on 8 of the 12 teams.

As for Big Ten record picks, direct hits were Iowa, NW, Indiana and Purdue. One game misses were Nebraska, Michigan and Wisconsin. The rest were two or more game misses, which are bad misses

Yeah coaching don't matter Michigan must have got lucky.

I wrote last spring that the hiring of Greg Mattison as DC at Michigan would prove to be the best hire of any coach, any position, in the nation. He was a big part of the change...they were bound to be better (could not have been worse...literally). But to make that big of an improvement was stellar.

It was a great hire I couldn't have agreed more. It was more of a stab at the be careful what you wish for people throwing out a few examples of coaching changing going bad. There a several changes that went to the good.

Question for everyone out there concerning mattison. say norm retired last year, and kirks close relationship with mattison, does anyone think kirk would have gone after him. food for thought....

I would like to think so , but If it happen last year I'm pretty sure the promotion would have came from within. Now if happens this year good shot that is stills comes from with in, but not as good as if it would of happened last year.

Just think if Ferentz went out and hired stellar defensive and offensive coordinators. Of course he would tie their hands and not allow them to do anything...risky, much to risky...If they were turned loose, Iowa might have some sizzle...

Ferentz does not allow sizzle at Iowa...only vanilla...and he is doing a great job of turning what little sizzle did have into cold grease.

I admit UM did better than expected. However, I still would not call them a great team. Remember, they did not play PSU or Wisky.
