Reactions to Big Ten Announcements

Logos: VERY disappointed. I shutter to think how much money was wasted with marketing firms and graphics designers to come up with bubble letters. I don't mind the B1G logo, but the other two are rediculous.

Division Names: Again, a big letdown for me. While it is nice to honor "legands and leaders" within the lengthy history of the conference, I felt anti-climactic and a sense of awkwardness as I think about highlights next season going from every other conference and their east-west, north-south, etc "normal" names to our post-modernistic ones. Too much fluff, not enough appeal for me.

Trophies: While I like the idea of the trophies and their selections for representatives to honor...18? Really? And some legandary names are paired with someone who simply won a big ten player of the year award or something. While great in itself, not the same level of legandary stature in my opinion. How many B10 POY winners can you name? Exactly.

anybody else get the feeling the 18 trophies were created for the sole purpose of "2 hour Big Ten Awards presentation show live from Indianapolis or Chicago" ? ala the Big Ten's own "Home Depot NCAA football awards show" where the players will all be with coaches etc?

Wow, the new names sounds like something you would see attached to an old timers baseball game or a senior tour golf event. If fans of the big 10 are not happy, the rest of the country is going to go nuts! And what's with the generic logo? Goodness.

I snagged the color of the New Big Ten logo and analyzed it.

It's Pantone 2925 C.

That's "Peacock Blue" for those keeping track at home. Seems fitting.

I have yet to see ANY new information/logo from the Big Ten and I can tell that I am going to be severely disappointed...
