He just signed a 6-year contract extension. I doubt he's going anywhere.I see the Alf hiring as a D at best. I still say Alf will be lucky to last three seasons at UCLA. This hiring will end up costing the UCLA AD his job.
That's why he will turn up in a place like Utah State or Alabama-Birmingham within 5 years.I don't understand the line about Alford's ego being big enough to feel comfortable in a huge job. In my opinion, that is part of the reason it is a bad fit. His ego made a place like New Mexico the perfect school for him. He needs to be at a school where basketball is king, yet he won't be questioned. He has too thin of skin to operate effectively at a big-time job.
