Randy Peterson on McCall and Coker

Seems conclusive to me:

I just talked to maybe former Iowa running back Mika’il McCall on the phone.

Sort of.

So Mika’il, you wrote on Facebook Sunday night that you were finished at Iowa. What happened?

McCall: I’m not doing any interviews.

Why were you suspended from the team?

McCall: Not talking.

Did someone tell you not to talk?

McCall: Not answering

Will you return to the Iowa football team?

McCall: Click.

The guy has nothing to back up the speculation...and if he does then out with it. Until then he should be held to the same standards as everyone else that posts on the site.

jon's theory is that if a news org wants to hang their neck out there like that, then THEY can take the negative publicity. though i'm of the wait and see approach, folks like peterson are just looking for views/hits on the site.

Yes, whether it proves to be right or wrong, someone from a news organization being 'on the record' is different than someone with an anonymous screen name whose only negative fallout is they might be banned from a forum, those are far different things.

The garbage speculation by Peterson that Coker won't play for Iowa again just fans the flames in my opinion. But its your site. You could have posted this before you went after me in another thread and lumped me in with other people posting crap.

I have talked about this many, many times before, which is why the poster whose thread I quoted was aware of it.
 
Randy Peterson must be speculating and guessing about Coker's future. As a sports reporter if he new what coker's violation was and if it was substaniated, he would print it to get the scoop. He has not printed it so logically he must not know for sure.

So he is guessing about coker's future at Iowa.

I disagree with Jon Miller this time about a news organization report being allowed.

I can just as easily guess that McCall maybe took down his initial facebook post about leaving Iowa because maybe family, friends advised him that he should stay and stick it out or just take it down and wait. Having a Doak Walker winner just come out of this program is a good reason to stay here.
 
I really thought there was some UI football rule imposed by Kirk that Frosh were off limits to the the Press. If such rule does exist and if Petersen violated it -- I hope they do not EVER let him in the UI football complex again.
 
I would think KF would have a rule that the press cannot contact any player who is suspended without permission of the FB offices.

Maybe Hawk Central will get banned! :)
 
That 'rule' is something Iowa asks of its media. I don't know what they could 'legally' do about it. So their name could go on the naughty list. It's not like Iowa will pull their credentials.
 
I don't think speculating that Coker will never play for Iowa again says anything at all about his potential transgressions. One could very reasonably make that speculation based solely on the history of players that have had similar suspensions.

Seriously I can't remember a single player that has gone through an indefinite suspension for "undisclosed" reasons that has made his way back to the team. Based on that alone Is say its unlikely Coker will ever play again.

Jon, I have noticed that you have had to intervene a lot lately. Have you ever thought of closing it down and re-surfacing again as another website where you start off with more control over content with stricter rules. I will say that I am glad you made an effort to clean this site up....some of it was so defiling that it was not even fit for human eyes....

The supreme irony here being…..he wants and thinks (as do most media people) that KF should or should I say has an obligation to make a statement. Yet he and they make unsubstantiated claims and refuse to out their sources as a general rule. Never had much love for the media….I get their job, but I don’t care for it.

On a corollary note…..it baffles me that people just can’t grasp anything on their own. How people run off half cocked with half a story….they are dangerous to themselves and others.
