Randle To Stanford

Illinios turned around and got a commit from Mike Shaw,6'8'' power forward from Chicago....a more critical need for them anyway. They wanted both guys, but they have so many wing guys, Randle probably did not see how he fit in, while Shaw fills the power forward spot that is vacant after Davis graduates. I have seen Shaw play a few times...he is gonna be a stud in the Big Ten. Strong inside guy who has a lot of perimeter skills as well. Rich get richer. Weber should win the big ten at least twice the next 5 years and a couple of FF's...or he should be fired.

Agreed. They have a boat load of talent in the '10 and '11 classes. Would be nice if we could tap into the Chicago pipeline. The '12 Iowa class is good, but no doubt the ballers in the Chicago area see better competition.

I always felt that Chicago, and the state of Illinois in general, was a state that we need to be able to recruit somewhat to have a competetive team. I know that Illinois is going to get alot of the top recruits, but there should be enough talent in that state to go around..

Especially when you consider how short of a drive that would be for the players' friends and family on the weekends, from pretty much anywhere in Illinois...Iowa City should be more appealing than it has been.

Agreed. From my visit to Champaign, I can clearly say that Iowa City is the more desirable town. If Fran can get this thing going, maybe we can start attracting some ballers (preferably those that don't rape people).

Correct - that's why I say Illinois in particular is a state we need to recruit. It's right next door, so we should have a reasonable shot of getting a couple of those players to cross the border.. What it is it, a 4-5 hour drive at most from Chicago to Iowa City?

With the level of competition in the AAU the talent in Iowa gets to show off their abilities against plenty of competition.
