Raheem Morris?

Read an article today that said he would be open to coaching down at the college level, if you are a CFB coach in need of Defensive Coach(es)- do you pick up the phone?

I think he is young and very energetic- whoever gets this guy will get a real gem IMHO.

It sure is interesting... middle of the season last year he was one of the hottest coaches in the league and just a year and a half later his team quit on him and finds himself looking for a job.

Anytime you have a chance to hire a guy who ran one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL and had his team quit on him with a month left in the season, you have to make the call.

I would be surprised if he doesn't receive a job offer for a prestigious position. Coaches cannot playout the calls they make, he just climbed the ladder of success too quickly. Much in the same way that I believe Stoops will grow a lot with a brief foray back down to earth as a DC somewhere. Nice post though

Damn, CAB. You ugly. But at least you have the rapidly-thinning hair thing happening.

Peter King had some kind words for Raheem in his MMQB today.

. I think, and I'm sorry for continuing to dump on the Bucs, but how on earth did a team with that much recent defensive drafting and a defensive head coach and a solid core allow 31 points a game? I don't recall such a blatant and incredible collapse on defense. Seven times the Bucs allowed 35 or more points in a game -- and that's with four picks in the top two rounds of the last two drafts being used on the front seven. Seven! Twenty-two sacks, with some of the best and the brightest pass-rushers to come out of the draft in recent years! Utterly, absolutely, stunningly pathetic. What was that coaching staff doing? Where was the defensive discipline?

Guess they would say the same thing of many coaches that have gone through similar situations. Spurrier, Saban to name a few. And Wade Phillips at Houston is now interviewing for the vacant Tampa Bay HC position.

Coaches never lose the ability to strategize, it's their ability to connect with their players. I think Raheem is a brilliant young coach and will do very well for himself in the future.

How much success will Tampa Bay have next year regardless of their new coach? Similar to the 49ers this year? How much credit should go to singletary instead of Harbaugh? How much credit should really go to Hoke instead of RichRod for Michigans success?

LOL Spurrier and Saban had won national titles before they failed in the NFL. Phillips had coached an NFL team to the playoffs, Raheem Morris was an average DB coach who thought he was getting let go when the owner wanted to meet with him but was given the head coach because the Bucs owners are so cheap.

This guy started in the NFL and first real HC job was for an NFL franchise- I'll give you that it was a stretch to hire an inexperienced coach, but that takes nothing away from his defensive mind? Do you think he may have been given the job because of his potential and not his resume? I will stipulate that neither of us will ever know, but i would tend to believe a franchise on the verge of turning the corner wouldn't 'go cheap' on a HC unless they really were sold on his abilities.

Hey chriss, serious question: did you ride the short bus to school? 'Cause you seem...uhh...special...to me.

And oh hey, next time I'm in Benbrook, TX and want to move some serious metal up & down, could you hook me up with like a day pass to the gym you work at?

Defensive mind? The same defensive mind that gave up 42 points in the first half against a falcons team that mustered 2 points in a playoff game? That mind?

In a game that didn't effect his fate one bit? After they had lost 7 straight? That game? Yeah, let's compare

Ha, and that makes your point soooo much better. They were expected to compete this year, and they were AWFUL. REALLY awful. And you want to look at hiring him. Mmmmk.

Again what motivation factor do you have at that point as a coach?

He will get a prestigious job, watch & see
