Hey going to the game this weekend - first time at East Lansing - is the tailgate parking wide open outside the stadium or is it clustered like Iowa - Any certain place to park - any good IOWA bars there? GO HAWKS

I am going to MSU this weekend and was there last year too.

The university parking lots do NOT open until 1pm for this night game. However, there are private business/church lots and individual homeowner lots all around the stadium (within 1 mile). I believe the public lots are that far away anyway. I know I already checked with my church lot and they are opening at 8am.

I would suggest just arriving early and locating the stadium and then driving around to find a lot. NO WORRIES! There are a lot of places (similar to Kinnick in that it is surrounded by neighborhoods).

FYI - The MSU Basketball team is having a scrimmage in the Breslin Center at 2pm and is open to the public.

There are two of us going. What is the name of the church that is opening up at 8 am for tailgating and how much is parking?

I'm going but don't have tickets yet. How was the scalping last year? I am planning on waiting till just before kickoff and then offering ~$30 a ticket.
I just want to get in the door and then go sit in the Iowa section.
On Iowa, Go Hawks!

HDad,

I believe tickets are still available at the box office, which makes scalping a piece of cake! I scalp everywhere I go and have no problem. MSU is no different - LOTS of tickets last year. The night game adds a bit of a challenge. Just say "NO, THANKS" to lots of people and someone will come along cheap!

Good luck! GO HAWKS!

University United Methodist Church - Seems like it was $10-$15, but I forget. it has very easy freeway access! Here is a link to the church map: http://uumc-msu.org/location.htm

Also a link to their information page: http://uumc-msu.org/calendar.htm

Hope to see you there! By the way cuinknk, do you have that license plate also? I see it all the time!

Those are not my license plates, but I do have Hawkeye license plates.

I will check with the other person that I am going with, and see if this works for them. Does this lot have any sort of alcohol restriction? I know the Munn Field lot that is owned by MSU does.

Alchohol probably needs to be kept discrete in a "church" environment. I never saw a sign that said, "No alchohol", but it isn't "party central" either! They do let you have access to their indoor restrooms!

Since there is no Minny road trip this year, my son and I decided on an impulse trip to East Lansing. I hope Iowa fans will adopt MSU as THE travel game of the year since tickets are easier than OSU and it is such a big game. Get 10k Iowa fans up there to make a dent in that MSU crowd...rev it up,bumblebees!!!!

We are going to be there. My wife and I are living up here in Sparty land right now. She's in Law School at MSU. We have about 7 or 8 Hawks coming up for the game. I know exactly where the church is located. I've been looking for a place to taigate with fellow Hawks. Are there a good number at the church lot? Thanks!
