Quotes from Auburn AD

Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said he informed Chizik Saturday night that he would recommend to President Jay Gogue the next morning that Chizik not be retained.

He said he had concerns with lopsided losses in 2011 but grew ''very concerned in our fundamental approach to the game'' after the Arkansas game.

''I had hoped our team would show some improvement this season,'' Jacobs said. ''Unfortunately it didn't. The competition in our league is fierce. I decided we could not risk falling further behind by waiting for another year and hoping for improvement.''

Jacobs said. ''Basically it boils down to winning and losing. Winning three games is unacceptable.''

LOL! You know, chizek might still have a job had he payed attention to how kirk handles losing while he was in ames.

What is Chizik's buyout?

thanx, bai.

I wonder if we could get Auburn AD Jay Jacobs to replace Grr-Brr?

Like 7.5 mil. They only signed him through 2015.

Really? He was only signed out three years? How did the possibly run a football program? Shouldn't a good coach be signed for 7 years or more, with a minimum buyout of $2.5 million per year or more??

Wouldn't matter. You know that the big time boosters are the ones that really sign the contract.

The Iowa big time boosters gotta be kicking themselves the last couple years.

yeah, I mean just look at how much of an ******* that big time booster "folger" is
gotta sell a LOT of whole life and term to get in on a ten way split on a KC lot parking pass.

Hey, anybody that can sell life insurance consistently has got my respect.

Good, glad they canned him. Chesedick showed no loyalty to isu leaving after one year, now he sees the other side of that coin. What goes around comes around. Well...bye

Didn't he say that the Iowa State job was terrible too and there was no chance to win there?

I wonder if God told him to pay players like he told him to go to Auburn.

Lots of schools making it known that they expect more from their head football coaches and staffs. Part of me wishes that GarBar would at least make a definitive statement showing that he will hold our coaching staff accountable (like he did with Alford).

At this point most of us will see these decisions as signs of a program moving forward, improving, securing it's future.

Not always the case. The next 3 years will determine if these schools made the right decisions.

Minnesota, Tennessee, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Maryland etc... are a few schools who saw this strategy blow up in their face. They are all worse now than where they were 3 or 4 years ago...before their fired their coaches for being "average". Nebraska dabbled into that territory for quite a while as well.

I think Iowa could do better than KF. I also think Iowa could do much, much worse. The problem is, you don't know the final result until after everything plays out. Iowa could be one bad hire away from being Minnesota, Illinois or Colorado. Risk versus reward.

Auburn will rebound because of their ability to recruit, but what kind of coach will they attract? They run each and every coach they have out of town eventually. Not a lot of loyalty there.
