I am out here in BYU and Utah territory so I am not hearing much as far as Ben’s recruiting activity. The things I have heard are off of frequent internet searches and You Tube searches.

I wondered if the local Iowa sports news might keep up more on Ben’s visits. I saw what appeared to be a recent You Tube Iowa sports channel where Ben said he may be adding one or two more players.

The portal window is closed which means players can’t enter into it, but I believe players can be under negotiation who were in the portal when it closed.

I think Ben could use one more big guy to help out under the rim on both sides of the floor.

Is any one out there in Iowa hearing any portal news?

I find it interesting that some of our guards under Fran and under Ben are as tall as the players Lickliter had at the center position.

I do have faith that Ben is getting the type of players he can work with and be successful coaching.

Time will tell.

I found a little more info. The article mentions that McCollum expects that to increase by AT LEAST TWO MORE. The story points out that the focus will almost certainly be on adding a big man and a point or combo guard.

Ben's comments indicates that they have to be going through contractual agreements as he says HE expects that number to increase BY ATLEAST TWO MORE, I find satisfaction in that there are no clues who he is talking to. That mean these guys have the patience and character to keep their mouth shut until things are all signed and taken care of. That takes some discipline for young fellas.

 


I'm wondering about the status of Simm-Marten Saadi, the 6'9" Estonian, that like Tate Sage committed to Drake, decommitted and now to Iowa.

But there is nothing I can find online about Saadi and what his status is.

I read this article and am not sure why the staff would pursue him. He did OK at Belmont but didn't really stand out, shooting stats weren't that great. Not sure how he ended up at NC but, shades of CJ Fredrich, he sat on the end of the bench pretty much the whole year.

It appears he would have played with Even Brauns his freshman year. Seems like he would only have one year of eligibility left. He's 6'7" so would fit the mold, size wise, of others coming in.
 




The Jaidyn Coon commitment will hit like crack... He's in 26 class but I feel like we have the inside track for landing him. Not sure how soon he's looking to decide. On3 has him projected to us so far but who knows to be honest.

What I find to be curious about with him is had Fran still been the coach would we have still been in on him? I think Ben has had a better relationship with him then Fran had. I'm just talking out my ass when I say that but Ben seems to be making all the right moves so far

I have no idea if this has anything to do with anything, but Ben is also from Storm Lake.
