Quick! Without Googling..............

I have what I consider a funny Coach K story. When I was junior in high school, Coach K was the coach at West Point. They have a hard time getting athletes who can make the grades required to get in. Coach K was calling me non stop. I had no desire to go into the army, I eventually told him, "look, quit calling me, I am not coming". I may be the last person to ever tell him that

Take this for what it's worth, but John Feinstein has stated that both Collins and Wojo have indicated they do NOT want the Duke job whenever Coach K hangs it up. I assume it's probably because they want to create/build their own programs rather than always coach in Coach K's shadow. Can't really blame them. Heck, every coach after Wooden has had to coach in his shadow as well. Coach K is essentially the modern version of Wooden. Apparently it'll be Capel's if he wants it....

If Coach K retires in the next 5 years don't be shocked if they push hard to get Brad Stevens. I have no clue, but some think he will eventually end up back into the college game.

That there is pretty funny. I agree, not many have experience telling coach K to "F--- off!".

Where did you end up going?

Tk, It's certainly better than your coach K story .

University of North Dakota. Hence the logo

Yeah, I hadn't heard about that, but that is the one reason I can think of that those guys may NOT actually want the job. I couldn't totally blame them, either.. Those are some mighty big shoes to fill.

There are certainly no expectations to win big at NW either - and if Collins does it, he'll be a legend there. Fans probably already love the guy just for having them on the cusp of their first ever NCAA bid.

more interesting....Bill Foster was succeeded by Ricky Byrdsong at NW, who was shot in a hate crime. Never knew that.

That story would make a good segment during a Duke game. Or by Hassel during an ESPN SportsCenter episode.

I was standing next to Clint Eastwood in a fitness center once. I went up and shook George Stephanopolousis' hand at the YMCA once and I saw Merril Hoge at the same YMCA. Clint didn't offer me a job as an extra, Little George didn't ask me to give a political opinion, and Hoge didn't ask me any football opinion. But those times were still pretty cool.

While those are great stories, they are not exactly on topic for this thread.

So, we've met before. Small world.
