Question about pigtail matches

How are the pigtail matches determined? Why would a seeded wrestler ever have to wrestle in a pigtail?

I think the top 12 wrestlers are seeded and than the rest of the wrestlers are drawn out of a hat for the rest of the matchups. So any of the wrestlers could have a chance at a pigtail match.

But some seeded wrestlers have pigtail matches???

Yes, Gambrall is seeded 12th, but has to wrestle a pigtail. I don't think that is right.

Ramos is a 6, but has to wrestle a pigtail.

Seeded wrestlers can be assigned a pigtail as they are in the draw also. I am not totally sure of the particulars. Actually, have a pigtail match could be an important thing as our seeded wrestlers have an additional opportunity to rack up bonus points. So, for the team race, it can be helpful.

Agreed, but they also have an additional opportunity to lose. I think two seeded wrestlers lost pigtail matches last year.

You are correct there. Got to have your head on straight to be ready for those early matches. Hopefully, Tony and Grant will be in the right frame of mind.

I always thought pigtails were a good thing

Last week people were complaining that PSU had too many, which gave them an advantage in the team standings.

As long as we can win them, its to our advantage.
