Question about ISU Cancellation

Also read per Pollard on DSM Rag the seven suspended players will be eligible. No real surprise there.
Absolutely no surprise. They know that no one outside the state knows or cares what they do. They know this is their game of the year. They know they have to be at full strength, play out of their minds, and catch breaks to ever win in this series. Just when I didn't think I had any respect left to lose for them...

I can't decide if them cancelling the game hurts them or hurts Iowa? It can hurt ISU because they don't get a game in and help get in game shape and gel as a team. It can hurt Iowa because now our coaches can't scout them.

This is bs. It doesn't count as a win or a loss, so it's not a game. You can't say someone is suspended for a game, yet according to the NCAA you didn't play a game and yet you say the suspension has been served. That's very low character.
That said, you know others are right, they would use the suspensions as an excuse.

There is plenty of tape on them from last year. QB played plenty last year. same RB. Crappier OL. No worries

"The suspensions were served tonight because the game — it’s not the student-athletes’ fault that the game couldn’t be in for weather.”

Pollard said, ISU may look to schedule another FCS team for the Cyclones’ scheduled bye weekend, on Oct. 20, or on the Big 12 championship weekend in early December — if the situation warrants such a move.

So my question is, it's not the players fault the game was cancelled, which, OK, would mean that they would only get 10 games, but they are looking to do whatever possible to add a 12th game back to the schedule, so...

I think it hurts ISU more. They will probably have execution problems early in the game. Hopefully, Iowa can take advantage of it.

Flip side if Iowa doesn’t win we(Iowa fans) that live in the state will never hear the end of it.

The suspension narrative is going to get old quickly this week. If the roles were reversed and Iowa had a game cancelled, they would treat suspended players the same way. They would be playing against Iowa State too.

Does anyone really care if ISU plays their suspended players. I could give a rats ass. There's nothing to see here. We want their best...it removes half of the threads on Cyfan after they lose. That would be "Oswald" type of conspiracy stuff if Pollard was to keep them suspended.

I could just see the thread titles now:

"Pollard wants Campbell to lose because Nick Saban has shown interest in coming to Ames."

"Campbell is ok losing to Iowa and kept the suspensions. Losing to Iowa helps make Oklahoma overconfident so we can beat them again."

And it's nobody's fault but the players that they got a suspension.

This is the correct answer. While it's highly unlikely a game would be cancelled, it could happen. Don't break the law/team rules and this won't be an issue.

It's often said a team improves the most between game 1 and game 2. The flip side is we have no film on ISU, they have some on us.

I would have still ripped on him, but would have appreciated his honesty if he would have just come out and said, "The players will not be suspended for next week, because we need them to give us our best chance to win our most important game of the year. I would not want to put our coaching staff in the position to not have its best chance to win the one game this year on which their job status will be based and have their tenure at ISU judged."

It would be a total little brother statement, but at least it would be the truth.

You guys sound overly worried about this game. It's not set that they'll play 12 games, so as of right now they missed one...
Who cares. We'll have our built in excuse for the board if we lose, and we'll have our 'one up' if we win...

C'mon guys

You expect some of the people here to use critical thinking?

No, Kirk wolwold not treat it the same way.

Kirk wouldn't treat it any way, if the decision was made by the AD. You're deluding yourself if you believe that any coach would nobly decline to play players that had been officially cleared to play.

Who cares if they play....I say bring it! We are going to kick their @$$. Kempt will be running for his life, just stop Montgomery. No Lazard, so no worries

The difference is that Iowa wouldn't have cleared them to play unless they'd actually have missed a game.
