Quality Wins, Bad Losses - Iowa's resume is a weird study









No, that was more a commentary on how important that Minnesota game still is. Which everyone knew anyways so I'll shut up.

For sure, they might.
It goes back to the Illinois - Minn - Iowa battle for 6th. It's a big time game for MN, one that could (again) stop a losing streak of theirs. If they lose to Iowa, there's a chance they could drop 6 in a row.

At Iowa, I like the hawks chances but still, this Iowa team is still developing and MN has some talent. They don't appear to be too deep but still they have some good talent.

I think Spank should start a thread about what their percentage of making the tournament after each game until the end of the B1G tourney.
 




Well, the good news is that Iowa still has a chance. I really think that we are going to need a good win in our last 10 to get in to the NCAA, though...
 






This is crunch time, if Fran pulls it out hes a made man. We likely keep the recruiting hot streak going and will go on a good run.
 




Iowa has lost 2 close home games...to the Big Ten co-leaders. That's it. Basabe was hurt against Indiana and Marble was hurt against Michigan State. I'm not suggesting Iowa might win or could win the rest of their home games. They should win the rest of their home games IMO. They also should win on the road at Penn State and Nebraska. I think it's fair to say Iowa should go 10-8. They may not but they should IMO.

We have played good 3 point defense this year which is not good for Illinois. We almost beat Minnesota at their place which is not good for Minnesota. I'm honestly not worried about the 10-8 or the BTT 1st round win. Since I believe that will be enough I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the games this season believing we control our own destiny.
 


I think Iowa is a legit bubble team that if they can do as Spank notes, win the ones that they are favored and take another.

You then look at those that are within that bubble. I believe Iowa has things that will favor admission comparitve to other teams.

Pro's
-Toughest conference
-Only one blowout loss all others were winable
-7 years since last tournament(I think this helps Iowa's case)
-Fan base Iowa travels well

Con's
-Not a single marquee win
-All things being equal would the commitee take a more senior lead team than one which is only losing a single player

Too much left up for chance unless Iowa win's two in the tourney. If they don't selection Sunday will be quite nerveracking.
