QB position got thin quick

So from what I've gathered so far for this week is Cade is out due to a nasty concussion. Resar is hurt and couldn't play even if he hadn't switched over to WR and Lainez hurt his hand and might be unavailable. So we have Sully and that walk on transfer kid Jackson Stratton and that's it...

The reason I think this really sucks for this week and going forward depending on how long the others are all out is I don't think KF and Lester are gonna be as apt to use Sully in the running game nearly as much as they normally would. We just can't afford to get him hurt at all. So he'll be encouraged to get rid of the ball quick and I'll be surprised if he has anywhere close to 5 plus carries in this game when normally I would say 10ish would be on the table. And none of them will be called designed plays I'm sure he'll just run when he sees nothing there and coaches wished he hadn't.

Can Deacon Hill transfer back and save the day??????

From what I read, Lainez can play.

While I would not be calling a ton of QB draws, the reality is that running is part of Sully's game and he is going to take some hits. Lester needs to call the game needed to win and not worry about injury. Almost every NFL team enters each game with only 2 active QBs.

Exactly. Run the offense that works well for Sullivan.

Sure, If he gets hurt, then the Iowa offense will struggle with whatever 3rd string backup that comes in. But at least the offense won't be struggling until Sullivan gets hurt. Next week Cade will be back and the depth problem will go away.

I was hoping Marco would get some snaps against NW but he didn't. He ought to be ready if healthy.

And, Stratton played some at Colorado St so it's not like he's never seen the field. He evidently has some talent, remember he's the guy who had his schooly pulled at Washing before he ever stepped on campus when the coach, who's now at Bama, was hired at Washington.

We'll be OK. Marco and Jackson will be the ones with limited playbooks if they care called upon.

Lainez is rumored to be out due to injury. That's probably why he isn't #2 on the depth chart this week.

Run some wishbone with Wetjen, KJ and Patterson or Moulton. Mix Washington Jr. in there, too.
Wildcat with all RBs in the backfield they can just run zone read options every play and lead block for one another. Hayden Large can be back there too. We'll just have to run it 90% of the time.

And there's probably a few guys that played QB in high school and changed positions. They might be dusting off the cobwebs this week.

If we get a 10 point lead early and then Sully gets hurt, we can just punt on first down and rely on the defense to hold the line. KF's dream would finally come true.

Yes,
I posted that same idea earlier this fall. Who wants to tackle our All American running back when he has a full head of steam on the pitch. Just that alone would be fun to watch.
