Purdue?!?!

What, did they get to the end of the planning and realize they had two teams left over to create a "protected" rivalry? Purdue? I'd rather kiss my sister. Call me unimpressed.

I still prefer our outcome to Wisconsin's. Now we just need to start a new tradition with Purdue: "The Black and Gold Game!" Commence trophy design!!

Given these divisions, it makes sense. With Illinois and NWestern being split, that made it automatic that they'd be protected. Also, can't argue too much w/ Wisky vs Minny, although Iowa vs Wisky would've worked well too.

That leaves the Iowa/Mich. St. - Purdue/Indiana 4-some. Flip a coin there.

Overall, I love it. We got Nebraska and Michigan, which is what I was hoping for. LOVE it!!!!!!!

I lament the loss of the UW game. I think that's a great rivalry. owell.

I don't know if Purdue is an automatic win every year...forever...for what it's worth. What is our all time record vs. them? Even just a few years ago they beat us. Granted, Jake was the QB.

You got that exactly right. They started with UM-OSU, then worked their way down through who they wanted to "protect" most and at the end there was IU, MSU, Iowa and Purdue.

As I fully expected, no level playing field in working through that piece. Normal bias for OSU-UM and PSU-Nebby.

Purdue/Iowa rivalry = lame

Who cares!? This worked out about as well as possible for Iowa. I'll take it. There's no way that Wisc/Minn would have gotten out-weighed by Iowa/Wisc. So this is what we get. Plus, I think Neb will turn out to be more of a rivalry than Wisc.

There is no reason to complain about this. Iowa got a great deal overall.

Be objective. OSU-Michigan and Wisconsin-Minnesota CANNOT be touched for any reason. There is also no reason to stop an annual meeting between Northwestern and Illinois. Penn State-Nebraska used to be an awesome match-up back in the day, and it'll be good to see it again.

That leaves MSU, Indiana, Purdue and Iowa. Because of the divisions (MSU/Iowa in one, IU/Purdue in another), and because there is (allegedly) a rivalry between MSU and Indiana, they should be together. That leaves Purdue and Iowa.

The fact that we have to play Purdue every year is fine, and meaningless. We have to play Northwestern and MSU every year, too, since they're in our division. Should we care? No. Our new year-end rival is Nebraska. That's a pretty awesome trade-off for playing Purdue at some point every year.

Stop being greedy. ;)

Iowa and Purdue were the only teams that were split that didn't have some form of a rivalry with a crossover opponent. Wisky was taken, and so was everyone else. Though I believe that Delany hinted that these protected games can change (meaning when we go to 9 games, we could get Wisconsin and Illinois/Penn State).

Exactly even with Purdue Iowa ended up much better than Wisconsin.

Even the Minny/Wisc game isn't the last game of the year. I don't get that. I think Wiscy got hosed in this. I don't like losing Wiscy but playing Nebraska last makes up for it.

The only thing I don't like about the schedules is that they could have REALLY enhanced the big rivalries by putting them at the end. Wisky/Minnesota, Iowa/Nebraska, Ohio State/Michigan, Illinois/Northwestern, Michigan State/Penn State, Indiana/Purdue. Would have been tough to beat that lineup on the last weekend.
