Purdue Two-Deeps

The sideline reporter and booth guys mentioned knee first, IIRC.

Either way, resting Jake takes a little pressure off CJB. Only thing that takes him off field is injury, so go for the kill-shot each and every series.

Man, if it's his knee Kirk shouldn't even consider playing Rudock this week. Beathard can beat Purdue. Despite who starts remaining games, Iowa needs a solid back up. If Rudock went down for an extended period of time, Tyler Wiegers a true freshman would be backing up CJ. Get Rudock healthy.

Alright research gurus. How many times has Ferentz gone away from the two-deeps?

My guess is not many. I would plan on Rudock starting unless he buys a moped.

Actually, he has, a lot. At least in terms of reps. Senior guy named starter, backup plays majority of the reps. This happens almost every year during the first quarter of the season...

That doesn't mean anything. If JR is only slightly injured, KF needs to make Purdon't have to game plan for 2 qb's. That is the smart thing to do.

There is no different gameplan between either guy. Its not like Purdue will be burning the midnight oil preparing for Rudock and Beathard

Just like 2010 when Paki was listed as the RB starter each week but never saw the field except for special teams.
KF was just trolling the fans because we were all begging for Paki all season long. How that guy didn't get 25 carries a game is beyond me. I'm sure if I posted a poll 4 years ago, it would have been Paki-1000, Anybody else- 2.

I should have been more clear, I mean in terms of changing the starter.

I honestly think if he starts JR that he intends for him to finish the game. He honestly thinks that Rudock is better than CJ and gives them a better shot to win.

KF said it was a hip after the game when asked

I will go it a step further and say there is no QB Controversy in Iowa City because KF has his guy in JR. If JR can't go this week he will be starter when healthy.

What's amazing is that nobody is really surprised by this depth chart thing or that nobody will be surprised, or should be surprised if JR runs out with the first team Saturday morning. Nobody should be surprised if he plays as well as he usually does, with the offense struggling & still gets every single snap.

We've all seen this movie before. Anybody expecting a different ending wasn't paying attention the first 2 times.

Last week Canzeri was third on the depth chart at RB and he ended up starting and getting the first carry of the game. KF doesnt really care who is listed on the depth chart. My guess is they just put it out and they havent decided who is starting yet.

If they (read: HE) haven't decided who's starting yet, then they (read: HE) are

Yep it's the smart thing to do. Of course Kirk is doing it simply because he doesn't mess with 2 deeps. But if he were doing it to mess with our opponent, it would be smart.

If and only if JR starts this weekend or Beathard starts due to injury only to have JR come back and start the next game, I think Beathard transfers after the season. Can't imagine him sitting around behind a guy he knows he is better than on the field? Not saying I want it to happen, but wouldn't be surprised either. With that said, I hope Beathard is the starter from here on out.

Thats a little bit of an exaggeration. A-Rob started most of 2010 and Coker was eventually his back-up and even started a few games.

Maybe you are mixing it up with another year because I do remember a year when Paki started the first game, fumbled on first drive and never started or played again. But inexplicably statyed on the 2 deeps for weeks.

Lol
I looked it up.

In 2008, Paki was listed as the #1 RB after spring ball. This was the year Shonn Geene won the Doak Walker award and Jewell Hampton set a freshman rushing record.

Then in 2009, Paki had his 1 start in Iowa's opening game against UNI. That was the year fresmen A-Rob and Whegher split the RB duties.

So my guess is 2009 was the year Paki was always listed in the 2 deeps.

There was never a year where Paki was listed as the starter each week. The Kirk hate is over the top, per usual.
