Purdue needed this one bad and we wore down

That's fine if you think that but I would then assume that you think we are clearly a better team than Michigan right?

Sorry, but I'm not buying the fatigue excuse. Iowa shot better than than their season average. If they were too fatigued, I would expect that number to be much lower. I think Coach Painter changed things up at halftime to take advantage of Iowa's weak perimeter defense, and once Basabe checked out, Iowa had no one to guard the rim, and we couldn't stop them. It had nothing to do with fatigue, but it was just the manifestation of a severe weakness in this team that has existed for years.

I also think that playing on the road lead to some mental breakdowns in the second half, such as that ridiculous endline pass over the half court line, and the horrible free throw shooting (How do you shoot 45% from the field but 63% from the line?)

You didn't answer my question. Fatigue shows more on defense and if memory serves me Fran came out in a zone to start the 2nd half so had nothing to do with anything Painter did.

I think fatigue was a factor. They got nothing from Basabe last night, so McCabe and White had to take up his minutes and it showed at the end of the game. Whatever is missing, mental, emotional and/or physical, in Melsahn, he needs to get it straightened out, because they need him out there - it was evident in the last quarter of the game that the other guys were wearing out.

No Eddy, I don't think we are clearly a better team than Michigan. I think Purdue is clearly better because they have a better record and they beat us in our house. I think Purdue is clearly better because they have a strong senior who was clearly the best player on the court and lead his team to victory (not unlike what Gatens did Saturday).

And I think that Purdue was clearly more aggressive to the rim in the second half, and I don't think there is any doubt they were coached to do that. The zone was an abject failure, because Purdue was crushing us both through collapsing the zone with penetration and kicking the ball out, and by making 12-18 foot jumpers. Also, the zone helped contribute to the 3,000 offensive rebounds PU had in the 2nd half.

Why not? Oh, I know it is because we drilled them in that nut house over in Iowa City. Such a home court advantage. I'm not arguing whether Purdue is better, they beat us twice so obviously they are. How about Wisconsin, are we better than they are?

I realize you have to play more consistent I'm just tired of when we beat someone the other team just had an off night and when we lose it is because the other team was better.

That's the way the world works. Sometimes teams just show up to play on any given night. No one is going to say that Northwestern is better than MSU, and although MSU crushed us, I still think we can beat NW.

I didn't watch the UM game, so I can't really say if UM had an off night, but I can say that we straight up out played Minnesota.

Yeah, Iowa's lack of rebounding and interior defense will kill them game in and game out.
Yesterday, Iowa's poor free throw shooting didn't help.

Sidenote: Iowa has a multitude of small forwards and guards.

The redhead and Mel are, IMO, ineffective tweeners.

We need to see more interior defense and rebounding from Bromert, Olasani, and Archie. I don't care how ready Olasani is, Fran needs to put him in. If need be put all 3 in at once to shore up rebounding and interior defense.

Woodbury is, what, 225 LBS?
It'll be awhile before he can hold his own inside against B1G competition.

I thought we've discussed this already Herby. Only someone who has never seen what Olasani looks like with a basketball in his hands thinks he needs to be in the game.

This is dumb.

I'm trying to find an alternative to the opposition getting 2nd 3rd and 4th shots against Iowa's ineffective rebounding. I'm trying an alternative to stop the opposition's easy path to the basket.

Keep on trying bud, because the next idea you come up cannot possibly be as stupid as the idea you just suggested.

Which part and why?

Which part? The entire part I quoted.

Why? Because you want to have 3 guys that have absolutely no offensive game at all on the court together at the same time. And which one of Gabe, Archie or Brommer gets to guard the other teams 3 man, which last night would have been Hummel?

Did I say have them for an entire game? NOOOO. What a said was put them in the game to stem the tide of easy opposition shots from rebounds and/or layups.

I know you aren't smarter than me.

EDIT: maybe to be grammatically correct, I should have said: I know you're not as smart as me.

The lineup would not work no matter how long you played them together. Its stupid to argue over because we will never see that lineup.

Well, I know I am smarter than you are, and what you said was not only wrong, but your insistence on viciously defending your flawed premise demonstrates some pretty severe cognitive dissonance that you refuse to correct.
