Purdue game plan?

Do you think we will see the same boring game plan that was put in place for Maryland to save some for Nebraska? I could see a strong boring run day using all four backs. Could set some pretty impressive rushing numbers.

I would love to get up big and give CJ and some guys on defense a rest. With that said, I expect a game closer than we all want it to be, and a pretty conservative game plan.

I think the coaches will do what they have been all year, and look for a balanced attack. If the weather is a factor, or we get up early, then we will go much more run heavy.

Considering it will be in the low to mid 20's at kickoff with winds from the NNW at 20 to 30 mph, regardless of the game plan, the play calling will be very conservative.

Would love to see CJ start connecting on some deep balls. I don't remember the last deep ball he actually hit

Defense. We know our offense will try to be 50 50 .run/pass, but cold weather means 75/25 - run/pass...Time for the defense to throw a shut out. No points. Cold weather..Shut down their offense so Iowa wins going away. If, however, IA is far ahead in the 3rd or 4th, the 2's might give up a score.
Need to see and produce a shut out. IMO
GO HAWKS

I agree, I think the weather plays into Purdue's game plan, stack the box and force Iowa to throw.....we'll see, CJ had Tevaun open last weekend and was clearly off the mark, but, I would love to see some deep balls...

I can see Purdue putting a lot of players in the box on offense to stop the run. And no offense to the OP but watching the hawks gash defenses with big runs is not boring.

If the hawks get up 3 scores against Purdue in this weather you will probably see even more run game.

But if Purdue is loading the box I have confidence in CJ making some good throws in this weather and one on one coverage could lead to some big plays.

On defense the hawks need to shut down their run better than against Minny and pressure a young QB. Look for a little more blitz or zone blitz with Hesse dropping in coverage a few times.

The nice part about our team this year is no one can simply stack the box to stop us because we have a qb receivers and rbs who would love to kill you in the passing game.

There saying we could have up to 6 in. of snow by Saturday morning and temps in the teens.Field will be slippery so let's get up on them early and get CJ out of the game so he can rest.Might have problems in the lots parking if you don't have AWD or 4x4.Be careful if going to the game.

I would love to see CJ hit a couple deep routes and blow the game wide open real early to rest starters not to mention it would force Purdue to go pass heavy to play catch up thus giving us a big advantage with them playing against the weather. It also would give our pass defense / pass schemes alot of additional practice before we have to play those damn Fuskers!

Purdue D averages giving up over 200 yards per game on the ground.

I'd expect a heavy dose of Leshun who seems to be the healthiest at this point with a just a little bit of Canzeri/Wadley along with some screen/pass plays with Derrick in the mix.

I would simply like to see the Hawks dominate the game and not struggle in any phase.
Wont be good if we struggle with Purdue as with MN on D.

Run the ball 60 times, play something that resembles defense, win by 30. That should be the plan. Purdue is awful against the run

This. We have four capable running backs (assuming Canzeri and Wadley are 100%), and no reason to not use them in this game, especially if the weather is poor.

If our defense shows up, I have no problem seeing 10-15 play drives taking up 6-8 minutes of the clock. We may not score 50 points, but if the game is 28-7 and Purdue has shown no life, who cares.

The key will be the defense, if they show up, we win easily cause the only team that's really shut down our running attack is the Iowa coaching staff. I'd like to see the traps, counters, and toss sweeps thrown back in, even if we're up big. Keep Purdue guessing
