I don't understand why some think he shouldn't be part of the rotation.Going to be interesting to see how the minutes play out for our 4s and 5s this year. Kriener is really putting up some good numbers.
First of all I think he will be part of the rotation.I don't understand why some think he shouldn't be part of the rotation.

I'll play devils advocate though. He's listed at 6'9/247, which is the roughy the same as Cook and Pemsl, who he was clearly behind last year. Is Kriener's position a 5 or a 4? Can he defend 5s?
If he can't defend 5s better than Garza, Cook, Pemsl, Nunge?, then he will be competing for minutes at the 4 with Cook, Pemsl, Wagner, Nunge, Uhl, and Baer?, that's where it could be tricky for him.
Remember this is only PTL and he's playing alongside the best PG in the league. The outside shooting numbers are certainly impressive.
Just playing devils advocate
Good point about Kriener missing PTL last year. Pemsl does have the advantage of getting to play in the overseas trip to get caught back up.Those are all legit questions. We do have to remember that he missed the PTL last year and that helped Pemsl get a jump on him. I think this year he may be doing that to Pemsl. He has the body to bang down low. There was just a few times he was out of position when he was on the floor last year. If he keeps working on his footwork and his positioning, he could be one heck of a pick and pop 4 for us.

My hope is that Kriener, who is slightly less fleet of foot, will be able to defend 5s, allowing Cook and Pemsl to play their more natural 4 spot.
Isn't it nuts that we have 13 guys truly competing for playing time. And that doesn't count Connor that we thought was going to be in the mix.Agree. I know some have suggested not to worry so much about position but it's hard not to when you try to figure out how guys are going to fit into the mix.
Here's how I'm seeing things...
5- Kriener/Garza
4 - Cook, Pemsl, Nunge
3- Baer, Wagner, Uhl
2- Moss, Ellingson, Dailey
1- JBo, Williams
Good point. Does anyone see a redshirt for anyone this year?I wonder if Fran ever discussed the possibility of a redshirt with Garza or Nunge and if so were they receptive of the idea. Kriener looks poised to break out this year and I'd hate to see a season wasted much like Dailey last year.
I'm almost thinking Fran has the recruiting rolling to where the talent levels are being upped each year so keeping them flowing through may be best option.Good point. Does anyone see a redshirt for anyone this year?
I feel like in order to get these good players to commit Fran may have to promise them no redshirt. I could be way off here but guys are so quick to transfer now and fail to see the positives of a redshirt year.I'm almost thinking Fran has the recruiting rolling to where the talent levels are being upped each year so keeping them flowing through may be best option.
