Mike Gesell's bounce pass is dynamite, by the way. Lost art, and he excels at it.
can someone who watched the game last night compare gesell to BC last year? is it an instant upgrade?
Not as good as Cully's, he stays too much inbounds and under control.hows his jump pass?

2 frickin points in basically a pickup / summer league game? Cmon. After all the hype? Let's hope this was a case of opening nite jitters (if such a thing exists at the PTL level).
Bodyslamming soar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Just for the record, there is only one poster in this thread who has ripped on Woody or any Hawks.
There is one in every crowd,ya know?
I am pleased with the reports I have read on the newcomers.
Woody battled with Cole and Melsahn, two grown men,and did not get discouraged, played smart, moved the ball, and helped his team win...which is all I ask from him next year.
Gesell played very well, and looked like he is going to fill that lone open slot in the starting lineup...he is the most important newcomer,by far.
Clemmons looked like he can fill his role...all good.
Meyer is gimpy,so we can hold judgement.
Uthoff looked rusty, but he has 17 months to shed that.
Devyn,Zach,Melsahn,Aaron,Gabe...the core of the team, all looked good.
The Hawks are going to soar again!!
Bounce passes add up to fewer turnovers, Atomic, loved Mr. Davis's style. It almost seemed he would have the Lads roll the ball on the floor sometimes, the bounce passes were so low. Almost impossible to intercept. The best the opponent could do would be to kick the ball.....Good to hear he bounces pass , how many time in past did the guards ever bounces pass. Make me happy.
May will not be a huge piece of the puzzle, period! He may be a small role player at best but he is not a basketball mind. I admire him for his outstanding athletics, but he is 5 fouls to give and an occasional thunder dunk. He is a deer in the headlights with the ball in his hands. For any fan to be ripping a player based on their performance in a PTL game obviously has not watched any of the games. PTL is barely above playground and everybody knows guards dominate the league. Unless they can get up and down the court quick and play transition you will not get many looks in the PTL. The rare times they are able to set up a 1/2 court offense then you might see players like Meyer & Woody get a few looks.
White's performance is encouraging but I wonder who guarded him, Olaseni? It was also nice to see May perform well, he could be a huge piece for Iowa this season if he is healthy.
