PTL 7/2 Hawkeye stats

Fleming is better than Kingsbury. Ellingson is better than Kingsbury. Kingsbury could shoot, but I don't remember him doing much of anything else. I think
Ellingson and Fleming have better all around games. Maybe I'm not giving Kingsbury his dues.

Ummmmmm no

Sorry about that Chris. It remains to be seen how good Ellingson and Fleming really are.

THIS...........Ellingson and Fleming haven't even played a BigTEn game yet.

Time will tell.............I certainly hope there even close, or 'in the same league' as the
Kingsbury.

Kingsbury was really highly recruited. He was put together really well at 6'5 215 the day he got there. He was a pretty good passer as he was good at feeding the post like the Mr. Davis always demanded of is guards. He also rebounded pretty well. He was far from just the half court heaving shooter his legend will have him remembered as.

And he was also a puke as I remember him

I 'googled ' Chris Kingsbury, and there was a story of how he won the three point shooting contest in the McDonalds all-American game for 1993. Its been awhile since he has been at Iowa. Both Kingsbury and McCausland were pretty good three point shooters.

Dear lord. What the hell is going on with you?

Kingsbury is on the short list for best players to wear the uniform. There isn't many McD's AA's that decide to play in Iowa City. He showed why he was a top recruit. Your statement isn't even on the trolling level.

I'm guessing he was too young to have watched him play, unless he so did from daddy's lap. His comment definitely was a swing and a miss though...

Most of the guys on the board aren't old enough to remember Kingsbury. I thought he was a good player. Time has a way to distort memory, and its been a long time since he played for Iowa. I don't think he was ever drafted by the pros. He did enter the NBA draft as a junior but wasn't selected. He was a great shooter, but I think McCausland had a higher 3 point shooting percentage. Ellingson and Fleming look like they are going to be really good players for Iowa, but it still remains to be seen. I doubt Kingsbury played better than Matt Gatens when Gatens was a senior.

That's because Kingsbury didn't stick around for his senior year. He was sick of college so he bailed. I believe that had Kingsbury came back for his senior season, he would've had a great year (had he kept his nose clean) and maybe even better than Gatens' senior year. He certainly had the game to do so.

As for Ellingson and Fleming, they absolutely could be better than Kingsbury but to say that at this point in their careers is crazy. At least wait until they play a couple seasons of college basketball, or even a single B10 slate!

This is either the greatest compliment someone could give Fleming, or you're not giving Kingsbury his dues. Hopefully Fleming is better than Kingsbury. That would mean he would be one great darn basketball player

The 'Kingsbury could shoot, but I don't remember him doing much of anything else' comment leads me to believe it was the latter. But I won't put words into someone else's mouth.

Kingbury had a great So. season if I remember right, and really regressed as a Jr. I don't think he shot it that well his Jr. year. Don't get me wrong I thought he was great to watch, but I think is legend is >>>> than his performance was. I'm gonna look and see if I can find his stats somewhere, or if someone has them, then that would be great if they would post them.

Coach K was interviewed on Dan Patrick once and DP asked him if there was any shooter throughout his coaching career that stood out above all others. His answer was Kingsbury. He may not have shot the highest percentage ever, but the percentage he shot in relation to his shot selection was unmatched. If he would have stayed his senior year, the career 3 point record would never be broken.
