Hey I didn't see a PTL thread started already so I thought I'd start one. Was anyone there? I guess Uthoff had a pretty good game.

Here's the writeup from Brendan Styles at Hawkeye Drive.

Some photos of the games here.

Story on Ali Farokhmanesh playing in the PTL from the Daily Iowan.

Haven't seen anything up from the Gazette and Press-Citizen, yet.

Sounds like Clemmons had his best game so far scoring 20 points matching Gesell's 20 points. Basabe said he talked to him and told him to quit thinking so much and just play.

I like Basabe's attitude when they asked him about battling with White. Something along the lines of "I know I'm not backing down, maybe he thinks because I had a off year last year, maybe he's questioning me" He said it smiling like he wasn't too serious which shows me he's matured some and ready to prove himeself all over again. Basabe looks to be taking a leadership role in educating the young guys on what's expected.

Does May think hes Charles Barkley??? 18 boards

In every photo of May I've seen he looks ripped. Whether or not he comes off the bench I'd love it if he could provide that athletic small forward presence he did when he was a freshman -- guarding taller players, blocking layups on fastbreaks, dunking -- I miss that May.

GamedayRon has front row seats?

I hope not. Basabe spends too much time watching and talking instead of producing.

I was meaning in terms of him letting the young guys know how important it is to get into the gym to get in work and getting them acclimated to the rigors of college ball. I agree on the productivity. He still has to prove himself after the bad attitude he displayed at the beginning of last year.

In the interview he talks about playing with the same mentality every time he steps on the court. Sounds like he has recognized his faults and is at least attempting to redeem himself.

Is may 77 Black? if so his ball handling hasn't been worked on, nearly lost it twice in 1st video at the beginning.

He was saying the same stuff before last season started though. He has always talked a great game. He seems to be an amazing rah-rah guy before the game. However, he seems more concerned with how Melsahn looks after the whistle blows and the ball goes up.

Utoff looking good, its rare in a summer league to see someone never out of control. That whole team looks like they play pretty well together, look allot more organized than your typical ptl.

Everything indicates that the players are taking this season very seriously, and they expect to have a great year. I can see why they would expect to have a great year, but it also shows what a great coaching staff Iowa has now. Clemmons was saying he put up five or six hundred shots the other day. It sounds like it will be a good year, with a lot more to come.
