PSU predictions

I guess what i am saying is The Hawks have Ramos, STJ and Lofthouse this year not next. They are all potential finalists coming up in a few months. I understand the thoughts on Burak and his redshirt i just feel this year Iowa could make a good run. (Yeah i know all about Psu and Minny and their talent this year.)Now or never!

So what is holding Burak out? Is it really a skin issue? Dont most skin issues clear up by now? I for one still want Burak in the lineup this year. Brooks has had some good effort matches but do you really think he will score more points at Big tens and Nationals than NB? Just curious

It's not a typical herps/impetigo that wrestlers normally deal with. It's more serious than that. In my opinion a beefed up Brooks could probably have close to as much success or more. Don't forget, Brooks was a much higher recruit coming out of H.S. I understand that doesn't always play out that way, but it's definitely something. I think hawk fans most recent memory of Burak is the Rd of 12 at nationals but he did also have 17 losses last year. that's a lot of Ls. And i think going forward w/ brooks 84 Burak 97 next year with both being Sophomores would be awesome for the hawks.

Moore isn't one to push the points to get majors and techs. Guess don't feel I am not out of line by saying they are on different levels.

i believe that CRLW was reffering to your use of the word "yet". As in someday he could reach that level. No biggie, just a misunderstanding.

Well, I tuned in late to this match. its 20-9. I don't follow wrestling that closely. Pretty obvious that Iowa isn't what Iowa used to be. I know PSU is really good but, Iowa used to be that good. Kinda sad.

Carver was loaded but far from packed. A lot of empty seats just looking around. People stayed way from the weather that wasnt even bad yet fyi. I am glad Iowa didnt break the attendance record after that effort tonight.

Also i am hearing rumblings that Cory Clarks grandpap may have passed away. That being the reason for not wrestling. If so my thoughts are with him and his family.

After our 2 hr drive home tonight, here are my thoughts. Very disappointed in effort tonight. Have not seen the likes of tonight's effort since the zalesky era. Is it me or are we seeing a slow slide backwards in the program? I would like to say not, but it seems at times our wrestlers just don't have the old fire. I think I only saw 1 maybe 2 wrestlers actually run back to the center after a stop during the match. We had two wrestlers that looked like they were ready to wrestle. I take take nothing away from PSU, very talented, but we looked horrible tonight, we looked like the old ISU teams that were coached by Sanderson, unbalanced, slow, unaggressive. I hope Brands has some magic in an old silk hat somewhere or based on tonight adventure, it will be a long season.
If news about Clark's gpa are true, our thoughts are with him and the family.

Yes we did pin. Maybe the disappointment of the way we lost scued what I saw on the mat. But there were alot of people we sat around we're saying a lot of the same things

Something has to change with what we're doing. Talent evaluations, development...something. I feel like next year could be pretty rough.

It appeared that the students went home for break, thus the big block of empty seats.

Just a sad display of wrestling. Ramos is really the only one who gets it, "would you want to let these guy's down?". This was his quote after his pin. Here's my breakdown:

125- Some on TOS think there is potential. What I see is a guy who has great defense, but not enough neutral offsense to beat the elite. I see him as a low to middle AA his entire career, which isn't bad but far from the expectations coming in. Also, I never thought Gilman to be a gasser but he looked like crap at the end. We need Clark here!

133- Took him a while, but from the sounds of it, he was trying to tire Gulibon out. Always the performer, I will miss this guy!

141- Not bad, Retherford is a stud. Can't excuse the lack of trying at the end though. You got a takedown, what makes you think you can't do it again? I personally wanted him to choose top in the third. I figured he would get his 10 seconds, and maybe even ride him out. At the least, maybe tire him out for a shot in OT.

149- The PSU 3rd stringer was so good, that Kelly was too scared to take a shot. What a joke, consider me off this bandwagon.

157- Vollrath is no joke, still DSJ needs to secure that major. We need him to get going earlier, but he clearly showed he was the dominant one.

165- Not too bad I guess. Still sucks to see a 4 timer abused so bad, but Taylor is world class and I respect the hell out of him.

174- See 125, Evens is the same as Gilman. Excellent defense, no offense. I've still yet to see this supposedly awesome top rider ride a top ranked guy not named Kokesh either.

184- EL has the goods to make this a match. Ruth is so disinterested out there that a guy like EL can sneak one out. In this case, the best defense to Ruth's offense is to shoot on his wide open leg. Sure he's baiting you, but he can be taken down on good clean shots. Something EL has displayed, even if rarely.

197- MM looked like Wright 2.0 for the first period and a half. A lot of that was due to wrestling an 184lber. MM also appears to be a gasser too. I think Burak can take him. Brooks is a fighter, just too light for this weight class.

Hwt- I'm a fairweather fan.
