PSU: NCAA poised to drop hammer hard

I didn't think it was going to come down this fast. I agree that they must have wanted to give coaches and players alittle heads up before all the players are back on campus. I know alot of em stay on for much of the summer but I'd be curious to know how many there had been. If they had a small summer turnout could give an idea to the amount of kids looking to get out.

I've seen a couple of media types speculate that PSU could go to a total away schedule as to not penalize the other teams and their already scheduled home games.

That would be awesome for everyone else. Sucks for the team and coaches though for those that would stick around anyway.

Maybe just loss of scholarships and bowl appearance ban. Better be pretty drastic if that's all they are getting. 5 or more year ban + 15 scholarships should be about right for me. I would like it if it was even harsher.

It is hard on football players to be students too (insert jokes here) with away game weeks. To put them on an away game only schedule would be unfair to current players.

I have a feeling that current players won't be putting on a Penn State jersey again. I think that is where this is going. This is going to be a very significant decision and a watershed event for the NCAA, the B1G and PSU

Post season ban and scholarship loss is not much of a deterrent. That would little more than a slap on the wrist.

You don't even know what the penalty is and you're saying it should be harsher? haha don't get upset about anything until you hear it. I think the 5 year ban sounds probable, I too would be OK with more.

Someone said this was a quick decision, technically it wasn't very quick because the NCAA sent that letter last fall asking how they attempted to fix the situation and yada yada yada. They still haven't replied to that.

As for the quote where that moron wrote "they didn't break any rules", facilitating and concealing child rape is one of those things that qualifies as something that shouldn't have to be written down to know it's against the rules. Besides, it's a clear example of lack of institutional control (which is against the rules). I'm unaware of the rules section that says things like "A team shall not commit ritualistic murders, this is against the rules".

Would a PSU ban hurt the rest of the league? I would guess that the next media rights negotiation would not fare as well.

Better put that fan base on suicide watch...after all this, and no football. I just don't think you can do that. Schollies and post season ban for 5 years is my guess.
