Pryce staying home!

I can't believe this hasn't been reported yet, but I saw on X that Pryce Sandfort has withdrawn his name from the portal.

Assuming it's not fake news that is great news.

The first domino to fall so to speak...........

I was wondering when some news would break on if someone would return. That has to be Ben’s number one priority right now other than getting his coaching staff intact.

You could be right also about the domino effect. Some of these kids should be friends with each other and if one domino falls we all know what happens then.

Let’s hope this is a legitimate report and not just an internet rumor.

Hopefully you didn't see that from Iowa burner account. That's the only place I've seen it and it's either total bs or he jumped the gun.

That's awesome I hadn't seen that yet. That's a pretty big domino. Hopefully Ben can help him be a better defender/rebounder. He already improved his game quite a bit from his first yr to this yr. I'd expect another leap next yr. I loved how he went to the hoop more. He's a long lanky 2/3 and when he goes to the hoop he seemed better at it then Patrick McCaffery was. Those two seem to be similar players that just do things differently. I'm tickled to get him back.

That's the only place I've seen it and it's been debunked and shit on since they posted it. That said, I think he remains in IC. I know he visited NU and I've heard that he's received bigger offers then what he *was* getting at Iowa.

I am able to access info on insider sites and there has been no mention of this.

I saw this reported FB two days ago. I think it is BS. I have not seen a credible source confirm this. Iowa should make a good push to keep him, but I don't think this bass is in the boat.

I guess we underestimated the loyalty to Fran. All 3 new commits have now entered the portal. Two 4****, one upper 3***, and of course, most of the former Iowa Hawkeyes. We better be awfully patient with our new coach. I wonder if he is having second thoughts?
Been watching Iowa BB since Ralph Miller and have never seen such a hot mess. Well, maybe Lick.

And, Michigan State can’t make a basket against a 6 seed.

Oops. Back within 2 at half.

This from a copy and paste from Hawk central;

'Iowa’s transfer portal recruiting efforts extend beyond just Iowa and Drake. The Hawkeyes are in pursuit of DePaul transfer Conor Enright, who began his college career playing for Darian DeVries at Drake. The guard averaged 7.5 points, 6.2 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game at DePaul this past season.'

Thats 20% coaching change and 80% just the way it is now. Most other teams are dealing with it now too

If this Drake kid is really a pre season all American point guard, I have a hard time calling it a rebuilding year. Hopefully I'm not wrong.
I was really little when I remember people in Iowa watching a very competitive Drake team. I would guess that was late 60's or so. It's a major accomplishment for them to just make the tournament.

This coach has won national titles, but at a lower division and lower level of competition. Still you have to know what the heck you are doing to win several national titles in any division.

Steve and Todd were major disappointments. Their success was more like a flash in the pan. It does give more of an appreciation for what Mr. Davis accomplished in his years at Iowa. Would have been the best of two worlds if Mr. Davis Davis could have kept George Raveling as his top assistant in charge of recruiting.

It could be a bumpy road and Ben is going to have to prove his oats for sure. What has it been something like fifty years since Drake won a game in the NCAA tournament. Let's give the guy a chance. If he pull's Iowa out of this dumpster fire then the next thing we have to worry about is writing bigger checks to him. That's a problem I would like to see.

Your mention of Lickliter reminded me of how many of his players left AFTER playing for him a year or two...it was like rats fleeing a burning ship! And that was before NIL/pay for play and they had a financial reason to leave.

Matt Gattens was on that team. Word was from his dad, a big Hawkeye booster, said he would pull Matt off the team if Lick wasn’t fired. Most of us thought the threat worked.

This is way more than we lost during the Lick firing. That recruiting class was decent but nothing like the class we’re losing out on. Plus we didn’t lose the entire team. Only ones left are Traore and Kingsbury. Teams don’t lose that many players to the death penalty. Other schools must feel the same as all of them so far have been picked up by major conference schools.
