Program Revial

A lot has been made of how Cody Zeller has turned Indiana around. They were everyone's favorites to win a NC, but yet they sit at home. Preseason No. 1 and favorites in the BIG, well they won the BIG, but not easy and didn't finish the season No. 1.

Take a look at Michigan and Trey Burke. They were picked to finish 6th, I believe, last year, but finished in a 3-way tie. This year 5th, but a terrible road loss at PSU and 4 missed FT's against IU on the last day of BT play and an outright BT title, or make the FT's and lead team to a tie for 1st two years in a row.

When you take a look at it, who has had better talent around them in their two years on campus?

I thought it was a crime that Burke wasn't FOY last season and Belien wasn't COY, look back today and think about things.

Here is the deal, we trust Fran McCaffery in what he is doing at Iowa. Here was Fran's take on Burke when he recruited him late: "He was simply the best player on the floor when I watched him."

Zeller came in with all the hype, but Burke has outperformed him and put UM on the map, obviously some freshman have really helped him along the way this year, but Burke has grown up a lot in one year.

Just for comparisons sakes, people talk about how much Peyton Siva struggled against the Syracuse zone, well when you try and split it up top and 3 guys collapse, it can't be beaten. How many times did you see Burke do that in the game. I did think Burke was a little too passive in the game and that he never got himself in a rhythm. Tonight I think things will be a little different and people can ask the question of what player has impacted their program more in the last two seasons in the Big Ten?

It is easy, Trey Burke has done more to put Michigan on the map than Cody Zeller has for Indiana, Indiana is one of the all-time great programs and just because he is an in-state kid doesn't mean he has meant more to Indiana than Trey Burke has to Michigan.
