Preview, Prediction: Wisconsin

Rob, two questions. First, do you believe that CM really suffered a concussion on the play where he further demonstrated that he had absolutely no business being on the field? Or, did he get hit and that was used as an excuse to politely remove him from a game where he was (again) sucking?

Second, if he hadn't suffered a concussion, do you believe KF runs him right back onto the field 5 minutes later? I was at the game, and folks around me were ready to unleash some serious hate if that happened.

There is a pic floating out there from Kakert or Harty(I can’t remember who) showing CM getting hit in the back of the head on the pick 6.

You can check X(twitter) and find it.

On paper, I agree these teams seem very similar, so a pick 'em game usually defaults to a close win by the home team. However, I maintain that had KF pulled his head out sooner on the starting QB situation, Iowa wins at MSU and keeps that OSU competitive in the second half. No variable impacts a team more than the starting QB, and Iowa is changing that variable for the better moving forward.

I am not saying that Sully is a top tier QB. He is not. But, he will get Iowa at least 4 first downs with his feet that CM was incapable of getting, and both of their throwing (in)accuracy is about the same. When Iowa won, CM protected the ball and did no harm. That is where I land with Sully. Protect the ball, make a few plays, let the OL wear down Wisconsin so Kaleb can pop some big plays.

Home cooking. Playmaking QB capably of extending some drives. Opposing team that turns the ball over. Seems like a win to me.

Iowa 27
Wisky 17

Iowa 23 Bucky 20 It is the one game of the year where my wife wears the red sweatshirt and i don the black and gold. I win bragging rights this year though i will probably have to camp out on the couch

Iowa 20
Wisconsin 13

Locke will make a bad turnover or two and that will be the difference. Sullivan will do enough to win the game, but if he gets hurt, it gets dicey.

The photo of him being it can be found HERE. I took it. ;)

As I wrote in the preview, I knew something was up when Cade stayed in when Iowa reached the red zone on its first drive. That Sullivan was held back indicated it was planned for him to rotate in later. KF said they were considering the third or fourth possession of the game. It ended up being the fourth.

I do think CM was hurt. He took the late hit and then the shot on the Pick-6. KF said the concussion was diagnosed at halftime. I don't think Iowa would tell the public CM was going to through protocol this week if he wasn't. That could be problematic on multiple levels.

My bad, man. I assigned credit to the wrong person.:)

I must say that raising the specter of hidden motives with regard to a documented concussion is a great contribution to the conspiracy theory playbook. Nice try.

That said people have hidden motives all the time. Depends on the character of the person. I don’t believe KF is that type of person.

I actually wasn't suggesting anything untoward with KF. Quite the opposite. I just thought KF finally concluded that CM was not performing as needed, needed to be pulled, but wanted to pull him out as diplomatically as possible.

"Cade, you took a couple pretty big hits already. We are going to send Sully out there the next series while Doc takes a look at you."

"Doc, not telling you how to do your job, but let's be very cautious with Cade and it might be best to hold him out the rest of the game medically to make sure we protect him."

Double Down.

Listening to Wisky pods they're not all that confident. It stems from a lack confidence in their QB.

I am more confused than ever now when exactly Cade suffered his concusion. This was poorly communicated by the Iowa staff.

I also am not totally convinced there was nothing wrong with Cade before the roughing the passer play. That wounded duck Cade threw up before he even got hit was just awful.
