Preview, Prediction: First-Place Northwestern Up Next for Hawkeyes

That was one cold, blustery, MF of a day. Probably the coldest game I ever attended at Kinnick.

It was also the first game where botas and (visible) containers of alcohol we're not allowed. They cut that off cold after the previous home game, Michigan with a 2:30 start, got a little out of hand. They didn't even wait for the end of the season to ban alcohol in the stadium.

Trash recepticles were overflowing all around the perimeter of Kinnick with confiscated botas, six packs, and bottles of booze. I'm sure the secruity guards and gate attendants were three sheets to the wind that day.

Last year vs Purdue was worse than that 88 jNW game. And by the way there was always a ban on alcohol legally taken in to Kinnick Stadium but everybody could usually get it in the stands pretty easily.

I knew a guy who worked for the university who had a pocket that went around the inner lining of his jacket at the waist. He could get eighteen cans of beer in that pocket.

There are high school games going on in Wisconsin right now where air temperatures are in the teens. Brings back memories of 1991 and schools scrambling to play games at the UNI Dome, the Metrodome, and USD's indoor stadium in Vermillion, South Dakota. Some of you out there may have played in one of those games.

I think Iowa pulls this out. 31-24 or along those lines.

Northwestern has caught people at the right time this year. Purdue early, Nebraska when they were shooting themselves in the foot, Wisconsin without Hornibrook. That ends today, they're catching us at the wrong time.

People think they have more to play for us. They don't understand sports. Us having a lot to play for didn't stop jNW from rolling us in 2009 or 2010. We were #4 and had national championship aspirations in '09 for heaven's sake.

Here's what I like. We are more athletic (albeit inexperienced) on the back end. NW has taken advantage of matchups in the past where they isolate on a slow LB or DB. I think Amami Hooker will play an even bigger role than usual. He can be a disruptive force.

That new running concerns me. He may be better than Larkin. He will have to be controlled.

JNW has been opportunistic this year, forcing multiple turnovers against Purdue and Wisconsin. Control the ball, pin them deep when necessary, and walk out win a much needed "W"!

This is a Northwestern team that is unusually slow. Normally when they've had Iowa pegged it's by drinking and dunking their wait down the field, usually with a mobile QB who can extend drives and take advantage of Iowa in space. They don't quite have that this year, through their defense is stout as usual.

Fun fact, I’ll be there this weekend.
Enjoy! Always I say Hawks win..Still could be big Splash.WIN or Sink... Hawks Win. Players Waay Tough.Enjoy I say. Me Iowa Surfer looks for Big Surf on Way to Dave's. Chilly this am.Dave's on hill overlooking Humboldt Bay.Ptc nate to noah

I get along great with anyone unless they want to talk religion, politics, or Scott Frost.
Damn it Fry, I was hoping to tell you the one about a priest, a congressman and Scott Frost go into a bar but........you wouldn't want to hear it.

My prediction is that Iowa is up by 3 with under 6 to play and gives up a long drive being picked apart by Thorson, culminating in a touchdown with less than a minute to go. Iowa fails to score with the game ending in an interception. 24 - 28, Northwestern.
LOL yes like many of us you've seen this movie a 1,000 times!

No shit! I could skip all the games and just show us the last two minutes of the games with Iowa up by one point and the opponents with the ball. That would save us 58 minutes of frustration and build up for the let down.

Iowa wins.
Normally I stay away from this game
I especially didn't like the line. I saw that and said run, don't walk.
I have a feeling this game will be one of those, " Its like they didn't even want to be out there today" types of games.
Which we know isn't the case, both teams will be giving it all they have.
It's been a few years since we have dominated them, so I think it's about due.

Iowa’s defense is embarrassed after the weak sauce last week. It’ll be a statement game this way: “we want to show them we should be playing for division title.”

It’s not much. But that can work.

I don’t know if it’ll be a blowout. That’s determined by a Stanley coin flip. But the defense should put the hurt to NW.

I also think the ol and backs have something to prove.
Everyone wants to throw all this shade on Nate, yet give him a run game. It certainly hasn't been anything to write home about.
