"The head of the international wrestling federation has been fired after receiving a vote of no-confidence in the wake of the sport's exclusion from the group of core Olympic disciplines, a Russian official said Saturday, Feb 16, according to RIA Novosti.
FILA chief Raphael Martinetti had come under fire for failing to do enough to promote wrestling inside the International Olympic Committee, and the Swiss official reportedly paid for it with his job at an emergency session called in Phuket, Thailand."
(my comment): Hopefully FILA can quickly find a respected and highly capable individual who will aggressively organize a battle against the IOC decision. Dan Gable? haha - doubt he would have the patience to deal with the political necessities of the position.
