Prepare yourself for the NW game

You need to turn back to the game and see who got p*ss pounded.

Nwestern chokes again. Shocker. They build these huge leads and time and time again **** them away.

Coker would own them. Psu is averaging 6.4 on the ground with 229 yards rushing.

If they dink and dunk to the tune of 4.8 yards per pass attempt, as Indiana did, then sign me up, I'll take that all day long. That plays right into our hands.

Not really. We don't take teams like IU and NW out of their comfort zone. That's what they WANT to do, which is why they give us fits.

Iowa's offense in the red zone was what kept this game close today. I guess I should give Indiana's defense equal or more credit.

Chappell came in averaging 7.4 yards per attempt; we held him to 4.8. That's huge. I guarantee Indiana was not happy with their offensive production today. They want to get YAC on those short passes and we didn't give it to them.

I agree that we play the same D next week. jNW is better overall O, but as shown from the PSU game, they make mistakes and are stoppable. We just need to amp up our Offensive execution. A-rob would make a huge difference, especially with Coker now a little more battle ready. I don't know about speed on the two backs, but A-rob for sure has a better awareness of where he's at within a play and can get extra yards. A-rob also brings leadership from his presence and he's a threat for the pass and...he blocks well.

this is a totally different red zone offense with arob. we will be fine next week. big ten road win. period.

think back throughout the season at how many red zone passes manzi has thrown to arob. that wasn't there today. AROB IS HUGE FOR US. Coker was a man today, but we need arob's presence in the red zone.

This game was a let down game after MSU and probably just what Iowa needed to get our attention for next week. Thankfully, we survived.

sorry, but I just don't think we beat jNWU next week. They own us like we own Penn st. Persa is dangerous. He's a d*ddamn rattlesnake. Our defense seems to get gassed in the fourth quarter. To win we'll have to be able to run away and hide. Hopefully that will happen and I'll have to come back on and admit I was wrong and I'm a bad hawkeye fan.

A lot of people said the same thing about Drob, and he's much better than persa. As long as our D plays the way it has we win no contest.

I like your cofidence. But Michigan also has no defense. They held Illinois to 65 points today.

PSU had 528 yards with 260 rushing and 268 passing... with a brand new QB.

If we play at Iowa level, we dominate. This was a wake up game and we survived a let down.

I hope you're right. I like our chances against tOSU at Kinnick. And I don't think there's any way we lose to Minnesota. So jNWU is a huge hurdle. It could be the key to winning out. But I just don't like our history with these guys.

I agree. If we play as to what history should dictate we lose. Last year was a fluke IMO, if stanzi isnt murdered in the end zone for both a TD and game ending injury we win. We were passing all over them early in that game. As long as we play Iowa football like we should be playing things will be ok against nwestern.

Wish I could say I agree with you about the fluke thing, but for whatever reason, they have owned us. However, I'm starting to sound like a Debbie Downer here, so, I'm going to throw away my doubts, and go with your confidence, and put on my Hawkeye pajamas, and drink to my team's big road win today (yes, I don't care how ugly it was, it was a win on the road in the big ten and kept us in the running for the freakin rose bowl), and I'm going to wake up tomorrow hung over, and ready for a big game in Chicago next week.

Northwestern is a strategic nightmare for us. Our defense is geared to keep plays in front of us, make teams be patient. Northwestern (and Indiana for that matter) due to personel has to be patient, throws the 3,4,6 yard pass. The type of plays that as Iowa fans, infuriates us because we give so much cushion. I fully expect to be ****** most of the game. I expect Northwestern to win time of possession. There is no way we sniff the offensive output of what Penn State did today. It will be another tough watch.

I do like the fact that we had a tough day, it should spark better play next Saturday. Plus, I like that we play Indiana and Northwestern back to back, similar philosophies.

You know we won the time of possession battle today, right?

Indiana and Northwestern are built to throw the 3 and 4 yard pass but they need their guys to get some YAC, and Iowa is really good at not allowing that. I realize we've had a bad history against Northwestern, but when I look at what Penn State did against them with a bunch of 2nd and 3rd-stringers, I think we'll be fine.
