Hey Hawks Fans,

I'm new here and I finally got accepted to post in forums so I figured I might as well start out with a bang. Let's start with season predictions......Don't bash me for these, just my opinion and I'm more of a realist than an optimist. Sorry about it.

Illinois State - W
@ Iowa State - L
Pittsburgh - L
North Texas - W
@ Wisconsin - L
Illinois - W
@ Northwestern - W
Maryland - W
@ Indiana - L
Minnesota - L
Purdue - W
@ Nebraska - L

Final Regular Season Record: 6-6

It is what it is. I hope I'm wrong. Just calling it like I see it from this point. As always, Go Hawks. Let me know what you guys think.

I think your 6-6 prediction is a pretty solid guess. However I think Iowa will probably lose a game that they are favorites in (I could see them losing to Illinois St or Illinois at Kinnick) and win a game many expect them to lose.

Another season and another very favorable schedule, a season where 8 or 9 wins should and probably can be achieved. That said Iowa will fall short. How you ask, easy coaching ineptitude!!

chances of winning each game and running total of victories

Illinois State -*95% 0.95
@ Iowa State -*55% 1.50
Pittsburgh -*60% 2.10
North Texas -*90% 3.00
@ Wisconsin -*30% 3.30
Illinois -*65% 3.95
@ Northwestern -*45% 4.40
Maryland -*60% 5.00
@ Indiana -*55% 5.55
Minnesota -*35% 5.90
Purdue -*60% 6.50
@ Nebraska -*45% 6.95

so over-under is 6.95.

I am an optimist so I will say 7-5.

Iowa has one of the most favorable schedules of any Power 5 team. Winning 8 or 9 games is entirely possible (but so is going 5-7 or worse).

I see a 7-5 season in Iowa's future.

Purdue - W

Here is how I see it:

Total patsies pushovers:
(Iowa St., North Texas, Purdue) 2-1

Ho Hum teams, neither great nor totally awful:
(Illinois St., Pitt, Ill., Northwestern, Maryland, Indiana) 4-2

Quality teams:
(Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska) 1-2

So 7-5

I do think there is a better possibility of getting 8 or 9 wins than 5 or 6 wins. Maybe I'm just drinking some Kool aid before the season, but picking up another win or two vs this schedule wouldn't surprise me at all.

5 wins or less 5%
6 wins 10%
7 wins 50%
8 wins 25%
9 + wins 10%

those are pretty good picks but I think the hawks can win at indiana if they are healthy at that time because IU will probably have a bad defense.

7-5 to me.

I will take this one step further and predict the scores of the wins.

Iowa 27-10 ill st
Iowa 34-6 clowns
Iowa 28-17 pitt
Iowa 41-0 n. Texas
Iowa 19-16 bad-gers
Iowa 52-24 Ill
Iowa 45-14 mildcats
Iowa 37-7 Maryland
Iowa 38-20 Indiana
Iowa 27-13 goofers
Iowa 20-6 Purdont
Iowa 35-27 Nebby

5 point per game improvement offensively, and 12 defensively.

If Boone Myers and Ike hold their own and gain some confidence throughout the year - 8-4.

If they look like ballerinas spinning in the wind - 5-7.

The defense is going to be pretty good. Jaleel, Faith, and Bazata are ready to play...and I'm sure there will be another guy that will emerge on the DL also. The DE's are very solid...and it sounds like the LB play has improved. The back four are going to be really good. Defense alone could get us to 8 wins.

I am thinking 5-7. Offensive line, new QB. CJ has talent but he this is his first year. With the offensive line the way it is, looks like he will be running a lot. Defense will be better. Just not good enough to carry the team.

I got it at 6-6...too many question marks and game day coaching is always good for a loss or two somewhere

From what I've heard and seen from you so far on this board, this doesn't surprise me at all. Unrealistic and over the top optimism. Sorry

Hawknick, you predicted the hawks are going 0-12 putting the opponent score first, what a bad friggin hex.

This season has 7-5 ALL OVER IT, which is really .500 when you throw your crappy sure non-conference win in there (see N Texas). IMO, in major div 1 college f-ball, 7-5 is not a winning season.

Offense can't stay on the field. Defense gets weary.

- burn it down.
