I'll go

1. Gesell 20-30 mpg
2. Marble 20-30 mpg
3. White 20-30 mpg
4. Basabe 15-25 mpg
5. Woodbury 15-25 mpg
reserve 1 Oglesby 10-20 mpg
reserve 2 McCabe 15-25 mpg
reserve 3 Clemmons 10-20 mpg
reserve 4 Olaseni 10-20 mpg

with may and ingram putting in 5-10 mpg here and there and maybe White giving 5-10 mpg at the 4 given foul trouble and different match ups.

We'll go 12 deep next year, so I'll give you that:

1. Marble 33 mpg
2. White 29 mpg
3. Basabe 23 mpg
4. Gesell 21 mpg
5. McCabe 20 mpg
6. Woodbury 20 mpg
7. Oglesby 16 mpg
8. Clemmons 14 mpg
9. May 14 mpg
10. Meyer 9 mpg
11. Ingram 8 mpg
12. Olaseni 8 mpg

Note: my assessment was based on position. Before the "you think May will be better than Meyer?" accusations start, please not the logjam at PF (Basabe, McCabe) compared to SG (Oglesby, Ingram and sometimes Marble). For this reason, Clemmons' minutes are bumped up, too. I just don't see getting 15 minutes out of Olaseni, by the way.

Basabe goes to bench and McCabe starts. Olesani redshirts. Meyer backs up Woody and McCabe. Basabe gets fewer minutes than he has been getting since he was removed from the starting lineup.

I think Basabe will be back with a vengeance next year. I see him starting. Olaseni could redshirt, I agree.

Don't think Gabe redshirts if we fill the last scholly. That would make for a 7 person class.

Basabe is not a 5. If he is able to play a majority of his minutes at the 4, you will see a Basabe closer to his Freshmen year production rather than his ho-hum Soph year. He's one of the most dynamic players on the floor... when he wants to be.

At #7 I am going to insert Fran's 6th recruit in next year's class. He is going to pull in a good one, I can feel it!

I will go with this. Basabe Will be back next year.... Olaseni could RS, but if he can stay healthy throughout the off season, he could really develop. He has some skills and is obviously a very good athlete....

pg - gesell (20 min), clemmons (15 min), marble (5 min)
sg - ogelsby (20 min), ingram (15 min), marble (5 min)
sf - marble (20 min), white (10 min), ogelsby (5 min), may (5 min)
pf - white (15 min), basabe (15 min), mccabe (5 min), meyer (5 min)
c - woodbury (15 min), mccabe (10 min), meyer (10 min), basabe (5 min)

gesell - 20 min (depending on match up upwards of 30 with some time at the 2)
clemmons - 15 min (depending on match up upwards of 25 min)
ogelsby - 25 min (i see him developing a lot with a better all around skill set than gatens had when he came in)
ingram - 15 min (being a 2 and lacking some height we will see how much he can really do. he looks good on tape but i dont see the hops to make up for the height as a 2)
marble - 30 min (could be the best player next yr. him and white and gesell i think will duke it out for that title)
white - 25 min (i have white with more min at the 3 than i am comfortable with. i think we see more 2-3 and 3-2 zones if that happens because he is a defensive liability at the 3 but there are a lot of bodies at 4/5)
may - 5 min (i think he has been recruited over and if we bring in another guard he will be at zero and that would allow white to get most of his minutes at the 4. right now i wont speculate on that until it happens)
basabe - 20 min (i am starting to think the lack of a pg has hurt him more than another post i think gesell and clemmons will help him like bryce did last yr)
mccabe - 15 min (he has to stay out of follow trouble. he does stupid stuff and has a rep for it. he needs to really work on his foot and hand work to stay in position and stop the stupid follows)
meyer - 15 min (too long and athletic not to play looks like him and woodbury will make olesani into a cheerleader for his whole career)
woodbury - 15 min (i believe c is the hardest position to come in and have an impact in college that makes what zeller and the kid at kentucky are doing so impressive. woody will be solid though and he is legit)

i have an 11 man rotation - may could be taken out to be a 10 man. i dont see less than 10 man because i dont think we have seen the press that fran wants. pressing and running means you need 10+ guys. not many teams try to press consistentmy with the whole team and i believe that is what fran wants which means as few 30 min guys as possible. i dont see the skill set olesani needs to play more than mop up time. woody and meyer play against great talent for the last 4 yrs and he has played like 4 or 5 yrs total of basketball. people talk about recruiting over may well fran did the same to olesani and that is expected because you go after the best you can get. and those guys are better. thid could be an incredible team and even better the next yr.

Great post! Agree 100% and could not have laid it out any better than you did.

I am pretty certain that Fran can see that this team still needs a mature wing player next year,so I am assuming he will close the deal on one of the guys he is currently looking at. He saw it this year, and hence he had Hubbard on the team to fill that void, but alas, did not work out. I think the loss of Hubbard may have cost this team at least a couple of wins, including yesterday, and a real shot at the tourny. I doubt that Fran wants to go thru that again.

I do think that Fran will bring in another wing shooter/athlete,and then have great competition in the fall practices...then redshirt at least one or two guys out of Ingram,Meyer,Gabe. I suspect it will be Ingram,if he brings in another wing this spring, but it could be meyer. I think he is further away than fans think. He looks good against HS competition, but big men take more time, and it is the rare big frosh that can make a real impact. Woody has a chance, but will struggle, and Meyer is far behind Woody. I think Fran wants to build a lasting program, and that includes redshirting big men on a regular basis like Wis and NW. Unless you are getting top 50 guys like Woody, big men should always consider a redshirt.

These are some interesting breakdowns guys...and I love that we're not sitting here wondering how many minutes Lil' Lick, Lotta Bite's going to get...

guards: Gessel,Marble,Ogelsby,Ingram

forwards: White,McCabe,Baasbe,May,Meyer

centers: Woodbury, Olaseni

Fran will experiment with different starting lineups until he finds something that will click, what is exciting to Hawk fans is how versatile and deep this roster is, he can finally go big, small or both. Better days are coming

I see Ingram getting more minutes than Clemmons. He's a 2 by trade and we will have Gessel and marble take the PG and Ingram get more of the 2 minutes with Clemmons getting sparring minutes. JMO

Don't forget Clemmons in that guard rotation, Jam!

This is probably very true. Here's a JUCO, Brandon Spearman, that Iowa is looking at but does not have an Iowa offer yet: Brandon Spearman & DJ Bennett picking up heavy interest | JucoRecruiting.com

Ingram scored 22 points in his final high school game, which was littered with D1 recruits and Clemmons is a lockdown defender (per McCaffrey). Both will get more PT than May, Oglesby etc., next season IMO. Basabe's PT will be determined by what he does in the offseason. I don't think McCaffrey will play Dr. Phil with him again next season.

Regardless of rotation next season, Iowa looks to be extremely deep and talented. And Eric May is the only senior next year too am I correct? Lot of experience and talent going forward. When was the last time we could say that?
