Two years ago, CJ, aka Sunshine, had long hair and an attitude to match it. He had the moxie and risk taking characteristics of a Stanzi or a Tate. Kirk, of course, did not appreciate this and benched him in favor of conservative, 3 yard outs choir boy Jake Rudock.
Last year, CJ shaved his locks and took on more of a Ferentzian persona. Way less sexy, way more conservative (I believe his yards per pass were very similar to Rudock's from the year before), but he got the job done and had a fantastic, 12-0 regular season thanks to a very favorable schedule. In the process, he had a high completion percentage, but didn't take many chances or throw the ball down field much despite having a speed burner at his disposal in Tavon Smith.
Now is his senior year. His chance to shine and audition for the NFL as well as keep the Hawkeyes relevant nationally. Should he bring back the long hair and the gun slinger attitude that went with it? Or should he stay under Kirk's thumb, keep up the good work, win a bunch of games, and not take many chances? I say let it all hang out. $1000 says that once CJ graduates, the hair grows back out anyway.
