Please do not rush the field

What's the big deal if people congregate on the field after a win? People seem to enjoy it...If it embarasses you perhaps you should stay home?

It was pretty cool after beating the Badgers for the Big Ten Championship in 2004.

Yes, it was. It was fantastic.

I've been on the field several times after games. My seats are near the field, so I've just hopped onto the field after several of these big wins. It isn't always "rushing" the field. I think people need to chillax about it, personally. It's kind of like being at a party, on field turf.

We have not rushed the field since 2008 PSU, and we should not rush the field again until after the OSU game, assuming we win, and assuming we are unbeaten at the time and it all but clinches the Big Ten title.

Rushing after 2004 Wisconsin was probably my favorite all-time rushing the field experience!

Agreed!

To be honest, if we win somewhat convincingly against Wisconsin and Michigan State, I don't think we'll see people rush the field. Some might run on, but it won't be a huge number.

However, if we have close games, then I can see more people rushing out there.

If we win the Ohio State game, people most likely will rush. Definitely so if we're still undefeated through conference play after that and are a pretty much guaranteed win away from the Rose Bowl.

My Favorite EVER rushing of the field was in 2000 versus Michigan State for Homecoming. It was the Hawkeyes' first Big Ten Conference victory since October 10, 1998 against Northwestern and their first win over a ranked opponent since topping No. 18 Purdue in 1997. Ladell Betts scored in the game (had 88 yds), Kahlil Hill scored on a Kickoff Return, Kevin Kasper scored (5 rec - 67 yds) and redshirt freshman John Buetjer was making his second career start. Here's the most eye popping stat of the game: attendance 63,290. WOW, we were 3-8 in 1998, 1-10 in 1999, and 0-5 going into this game and we still pulled more fans than ISU can pull in a winning year. Absolutely Incredible.

Kirk was Quoted after the game:
"This was certainly a great victory for our team," Iowa coach
Kirk Ferentz said. "I'm extremely pleased with our young
players because they have worked hard and given a great team
effort. There were some plays that weren't pretty, but the whole
game was a Mona Lisa to me."

Sounds as like that quote could come from anyone of his years, as genuine as a person could be. TRULY: In Kirk We Trust!!!

I don't remember, but was there a field rush after the Northwestern game in 2000? I was 10 years old at the time, and didn't really grasp the gravity of what I was witnessing.

Your ticket entitles you to watch the game from your seat not rush the field after the game. It's a ticket to WATCH the game not PARTICPATE in it.

It is only a matter of time before something bad happens with players and fans on the field at the same time.

In an effort to one-up your use of "hogwash" I'm going to label your entire post as poppycock.

you're always such a TuffMan.

I'll rush if I please and couldn't care less what you think. Did it at my first game against ASU in '03 and it was glorious.

And it really is like going down to congratulate, not to "rush" the field. And if we win a close one this week against Wisky, I look forward to seeing a "rush" happen. It shows the country we CARE about our team.

Rush on boys.

There was a rush after this game. A bunch of Iowa fans ran down in front of the NW fans and started chanting, "No more rose bowl!" clap, clap, clap-clap-clap. The NW fans were not happy. 11/11/00, that's one game I'll remember as being one of the first flickers of light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm al lfor rushing the field but should be only for big upsets, a championship or for if we beat a school we havent beaten in a long time. I mean if you do it every week it just becomes old. It's not just what the ESPN talking heads say, but how Iowa is viewed by other schools and coaches. If we consistently storm the field after every time we beat a Top 25 team, it just shows that we don't expect to win. Iowa is at the point where they expect to win every game no matter who we play and rushing the field should not happen after all of those games. The field rush should be saved for the potential Iowa/OSU game deciding the Big Ten. just my view.

In 04 we rushed Purdue and Wisky, but wisky was just amazing! I was in chad greenway and david bradley sandwich! Also, got to touch the heartland trophy!

I want to rush the field at Minny, never have I ever seen a visiting team rush the field and tear down the opponents goal posts - best thing I have ever seen.
