Playoff games are on Dec 31st; that's only 1 day later than the Music City for cripes sake! Not to mention, they're in a couple of the crappiest places on the whole bowl circuit.
Rose is a real January 1st bowl - thee premier Jan 1 bowl - with an exclusive time slot where all of College Football Nation's eyes are watching (even those that are still a bit pie-eyed
). Heck, even the Outback or Taxslayer are played in January; being able to say you won a bowl championship in January is prestigious. Playoff? Pshhh!
