Play of the game...

The 50 ydr to Vandeberg on 3rd and 21 to finally flip field position. Huge, huge play and gave us the momentum we needed at that point.

Yep. Iowa has rarely had plays like that go for them. Opponents do at least a couple 3rd and 17s each game.

Iowa?
Never.

Until today.

nope, the fake FG was the play of the game. fired the team up even though it did not work. show3d that coaches had confidence that Iowa is the better team that they did not need the measly 3 points and they were going to have some fun instead.

An argument could be made that Paul's decision to punt on 4th and 1 was a huge play one game as well...

regardless I think it was the fumble recovery and TD by Vandeberg. That play took all the air out of the clown car

Yep- huge play. Big balls by Goldie. And regardless of what people say about band vandenberg, he brought it. Sunshines long runs were critical too. He willed this team to the win.

Yeah, it also made me believe that the funny bounces just might go our way, once. Unfortunately the WORST play will have bigger ramifications for the rest of the year. I am not talking about Parker's Wrong way Jet Sweep or the fielded kickoff before it goes out of bounds at the 2. No, the worst play was the fumble from the ISU back that Drew Ott dove for. The ISU lineman that actually recovered it happened to pin Drew's arm underneath it. Now FOX only showed the replay one stinking time, but I really think on that one replay we are looking at a pretty serious injury. I know that somewhere else on here a "wrist injury" was mentioned. Well, it looked to me like the way his arm caved in and got pinned under that lineman that he probably dislocated his shoulder. NO INSIDE info whatsoever. Just what it looked like on that one replay. Let's hope it isn't that serious.

I think any of the above would be worthy options. But I really think King's punt return might have been the best timed play. After driving down, then losing the fumble, it would have been a lot for the offense to do it yet again.

Losing him would seriously change the face of our defense, but he is a tough young man. There are pictures of him looking pretty lively in the locker room, without the sling, after the game. I would not be surprised to see him suited up for next week and available if needed. I mean last year being hit by a car couldn't stop him.

I agree with Spider's orginal post... there were a lot of important plays however.

Just glad the play of the game wasn't Canzerri's fumble.

Kings punt return was also huge... if you are going to talk field position.

Big plays all around and some bigger than others.

But it was a total team win an good to see them hang in there the way Isu went up just before halftime

I thought the play of the game was when the whole team walked over to get the cy-hawk trophy and the clowns shaking because they thought they were going to get hurt.

The play of Hawkeye Nation is the cyfans running away from this sight and knowing they won't show up for awhile because, as we know, they have no balls.

When is the last time that we could debate which big play was the most important? Man, that's sad and fantastic at the same time.

There was two plays late in the game that were both a big deal. King's punt return flipped field position, and so did the long 3rd down pass.
