We have a point guard....one who's on track to be the all-time assists leader, the all time 3 point scorer, and a top 5 scorer.

That's great but he cannot defend the opposing point guard. If you watch the game closely you will see they blow right past him which breaks down the defense. Michigan was able to do this all game and it lead to easy dunks or kick outs for wide open 3's.

This is true which is why it looks like we play bad defense because we are always in breakdown catchup mode.

Problem with that is Bohannon isn't a true 2 because he can't guard the 2.
 
We need a team lockdown defender. How many games did we lose to a "hot shooter" having a career night? I would agree that JBo can't penetrate like we wish, but he is a decent guard. It's the off guard that is killing us. Moss, and everyone else playing that position just can't play defense. Moss is so talented but is just not strong enough to play defense or dribble drive with authority. Some players will probably leave, just hope that Fran has something in mind to fill that glaring deficiency.

He could be a 1 or 2 on offense with the right counterpart, depending on the matchup. That part is 100% on Fran.

He couldn’t guard a 2 or score on a 2. If a 2 wasn’t as quick they would just post him up or just shoot right over him. He would get scorched even more

That could be true but typically the 2 is not at least he's not being asked to stop the ball off the dribble. Typically teams do not put their quickest player at the 2, even if JB cannot cover the 2 it's much easier to cover up than someone who cannot guard the point guard.
 
This team needs defense. If we run the same group out next year with the same crappy defense we will see a similiar record.

Someone needs to tell Fran that it's not against the rules to have a point guard guard a shooting guard.
