Pitt fans have to be in meltdown mode

Have not ventured to any of their message boards, but Pitt fans have to be in meltdown mode. They were feeling pretty confident late in the third (as they should have been) ... That would be a tough pill to swallow to watch your team lose a huge lead ... But, hey, I will take it ... A big group of them just sort of stood there for quite some time at the conclusion of the game ... Wow ... so many emotions (good and bad) in this one!

My understanding is that Pittsburgh is just not that big on the college team so there isn't as much passion (not saying there aren't passionate Pitt fans because I'm sure there are) just isn't going to be on the same level as it is here.

They're just like any other college program in a pro-dominated market...the general attitude is "don't talk to me about the college team unless they are in the top 5".

On the same day they lost this game, they found out their school is stepping up from the BEast to the ACC. I'd forget about the game, too.

The Burgh is a pro sports town. There are Pitt fans, but it's really not that big a deal to them.

At the very least, their lack of devotion to the team yields a classy group of fans. I didn't see any confrontations outside the stadium, and I think a lot of that credit goes to the visiting crowd.

If only I could say about the Pittsburgh program itself. It seemed classless to make their entrance to the stadium at the same time as our Hawkeyes, and then for their cheer squad to parade their flags in front of our student section after each Pitt score. I'd like to see visiting teams accept their role, and cater to the section of their fans

Most if not all teams do this.

Talked with a couple Pitt fans at half. Nice guys, but not terribly excited about their squad. (they did say that Kinnick was great) Having the Steelers in your backyard is a tough challenge. I wonder if that's why the BIG TEN has never seemed too enthusiatic about adding Pitt.

The players, on the other hand, were pretty devastated. My buddies sit right behind the vistor's bench. And in our postgame regroup...they said several of Pitt's guys were in tears. Tough loss for em.

I can only imagine how Iowa fans would respond to blowing a 21 pt lead with 16 minutes to go to lose. And having a coach that refused to run the clock ,stubbornly sticking to the no-huddle hurry up offense...I would go berserk. If he goes to a regular huddle offense,no way we get all the way back.

tough loss for them. Two tough games and the Iowa schools take out the big east champs from last year. not a bad showing for us against the east coast schools. Two Dubs

Was at the Bravosports area at the baseball field(bought my ticket thru them). Pitt was having a reception there. Their cheerleaders were there. Fans were pretty decent.

Pitt football has lost multiple fourth quarter leads in the past couple years. They lost on the road at Utah last year, and blew an epic home game against Cincinnati with the BCS on the line two years ago. Its just another game for their fans.

Other Big East and Big 12 boards are in full meltdown mode because of the ACC news.
