Pick the round Stanzi gets drafted - or goes undrafted

There's no way that Cincy is going to call his bluff like that. If they call it, they'll take someone in the first round. Because if they call Palmer's bluff and take Stanzi, only to find out that Palmer wasn't bluffing, then they're in big trouble.

Stanzi could maybe become an alright starter after 3-4 years on the sidelines. Any sooner than that and you're asking for trouble, IMO.

Mike Brown doesnt care. He is the only owner that does not pay for a scouting department. He will call Palmers bluff. He has already said he will not trade him. He also wont stretch to take any of the quarterbacks in the early rounds. He may not take Stanzi, im just making a guess like everybody else. He has no other quarterback on the roster, so i would assume he would take one in the later rounds cause he plans on keeping Palmer. I could see the Bengals taking a quarterback in rounds three or four, so i just guessed Stanzi at the third round.

Cincy has the #4 pick, so they will likely have their pick of the QB's. To call Palmer's bluff, you better damn well have a QB who is remotely ready to play (in the event that Palmer isn't bluffing). Gabbert, Newton, Mallett are all guys that they could either take at #4 or trade down and pick up at 10-15.

You don't gamble like this when all you have is a guy like Stanzi (nowhere near an ace at this point) up your sleeve.

Could easily see them taking Newton if he's there at 4

You also dont spend a #4 pick on a high rated quarterback if you are adamant about keeping Palmer. They have higher needs than quarterback at the #4 pick with Palmer as your starter. They will most likely trade out of that pick if they can. They will more than likely take a quarterback in the later rounds. So like I said I am just guessing Stanzi at round 3 possibly 4.

Trading picks is going to be a mess this year since you can't include players.

Again, by keeping Palmer, you are gambling. Maybe he's bluffing, but there's no way to be sure. He's also getting to the point where you do need to start thinking about a replacement. If you keep him, you run the risk that he's not bluffing. If he is, no problem. If he's not, your biggest need becomes quarterback. Would I rather have Stanzi, or Gabbert/Mallett (who are more NFL-ready)? Option B, no question. If you take one of them and Palmer decides to quit, at least you have a more NFL-ready option in the wings. If you keep him and draft Stanzi (or a QB like him), and Palmer quits, you're screwed.

The word around the combine is that there is at least 3 GM's that are considering him in the 3rd. I know Tenn. is one, don't know the other two but one of the recaps suggested the GM's like his leadership and his pro style. If he is with a team with a good running game he will do very well with his skills.

5th round, Packers, ends up on their practice squad. Hey, $192K/yr is not bad coin for throwing in practice sessions.

Still think it's worth the risk to pass on one of the top QB's in this draft?

Yea i just saw that. Like i said yesterday, i am just going out on a limb. No big deal. Seems like this is kinda a touchy subject for you. I still do not see Cincinnati drafting a QB in their first round pick. They will deal for a veteran if they can. If not, then they draft best possible player at #4 whether thats Scam Newton or somebody other than QB.
