Minny, Wisky, Nebby.

Those are arguably our 3 biggest rivalry games, it's looking more and more like we won't end up in the same division as all 3. Pick one to drop, and tell me why.

Minny, as much as I love playing for the pig, that game does the least for the program. However, as another thread stated, that in 2015 the B10 will have 2 protected rivalry games, so unless we aren't in the same division as all 3, we could (possibly) maintain all 3 rivalries every year.

I vote Minny, yes it's a trophy game, but in my lifetime this has been as close to a guaranteed victory as you can get in the B10. The only reason it was big is because it was the last game of the season frequently and as such it had a lot of things riding on it, that and it was the easiest road ticket to get in the B10.

With the new stadium thats no longer the case. I'm OK with only playing for the Bacon every 2 -4 years or so.

I am going to say Wisky. That is a nice trophy, but it is a Johny-come-lately. Fine to let it sit at one school for a couple of years. Floyd is really too much of a classic trophy to let it slip by.

However, I don't like Minny as the last game of the season. Just a good trophy.

wisky all day long i have too many minnesota fans to make fun of when we beat them every year and nebraska will be an instant classic gotta have them in our schedule

+1

The atmosphere at Camp Randall is great for football, but I love the Floyd. And as much as I love the Floyd, I will love playing Nebraska. They can get rid of both Minny and Wisky, just as long as the Bug Eaters are on the schedule every year. There's way too much bragging rights needing settled here on the western side of the state.

I chose Minnesota.

They haven't scored a point against Iowa since 2007. That should be enough explanation.

Minnesota - I love the battle for Floyd, but Minnesota has no pulse. It is not a fun game to watch. I do, however, love the Wisconsin/Iowa game. It has always been a thriller. I also cannot wait for the Iowa/Nebraska rivalry to start up. That will be a great game year in and year out!

This. I hate the idea of not playing for Floyd, because it is a very unique and special trophy.

That said, while I agree that Wisconsin is Johnny-come-lately, that game does a lot more for me, as far as getting me excited, because Wisconsin has the better program, by a long shot. And the past 7-8 years have really enhanced it, with a couple Big Ten titles riding on it.

I really can't choose between the 2, just because each one has pros that are pretty much even out with the cons.

Point very well taken.

Nothing as special as Wisky in Kinnick in 2004 for a surprise conference championship.

Still remember the stadium start to murmur and then when realization hit when they announced that UM / OSU score.

Minnesota is just not competitive & Minn-St. Paul is an NFL city (at least for the time being). The college atmosphere sucks.

I really like the Wisky game every year & usually has something riding on that game. Minny is usually to fill out the regular season schedule.

Yes, there is the pig, but seriously, can't we live without it every year. We would still have the rotation. Also, when playing for it & being able to possess it for a few yrs, wouldn't that add to the importance to the game. I think it's a perfect rivalry game to play every 3 or so yrs.

As long Wiski and Iowa get to play each year, I say drop the heartland trophy.

If thats not the case and the only way to ensure that Iowa and Wiski play every year is to make it a rivalry game, I'd have to say a painful goodbye to Floyd.

I think the census right now says "drop Minny. We beat them handily every year it's not really a rivalry at this point.".

I know that we've had some nice games over the past years with Wisky but I would venture to say the 'feelings' about that game are positive because we've been winning the important battles over the years. ('03 barn burner, '04 BT Champs, '05 Alvarez last game, '08 Greene rambles, '09 come back)

I'm not so sure how long we come out on top in both of these games year-over-year...and Wisky looks like they may continue to improve in the coming years. Yeah, we've had a nice run but I'm sure it won't last forever. Should we be careful what we ask for?

ie. I wonder what the vote would be if we weren't beating up on Minny every year. A LOT of people put a high importance on that rivalry in the past...before the game with Wisky heated up in the recent past.
