I have opined in previous posts that Parker's success has partially been the result of Iowa playing in the offensively challenged West for so long, and during the BF years Iowa's offense being so bad that opponents played conservatively on offense because they did not need to score a lot of points to win. I am starting to doubt my own hypothesis. Iowa's defense so far this year, even with the losses to graduation, has been pretty damn salty. This has been his best coaching job yet, IMHO.
That said, these next 4 games will go a long ways to showing whether Parker's success is partially a product of the system he is in, or if he truly is one of the best DCs in the nation. 3 of the 4 opponents remaining have appreciable fire-power at QB and offensively as a whole. They all pass well, and they all score points. If Phil can subdue these 4 opponents, as he has this season so far, any doubts as to his greatness will be erased in my mind.
