I think the coaches should stay with Padilla right now. He seems to start the game better and is a little quicker
And Petras and his camp have to know with his lack of quickness and lack of overall speed (they are different) he has very little chance to make an NFL team. If for some reason Petras starts two more years and shows a lot of growth reading defenses, finding open targets, and getting the completion percentage into the high 60's to 70 then nfl teams make try him out. I have always thought he has been a good enough hawk QB to win a lot of games which he has. His first two games last year his OLine pass pro was not great and the run game was not great, both bad things for a QB. Then things got rolling and he played above avg making lots of really great throws and decisions that we know of.
If I was Petras and wanted to improve I would start with a really good sprint coach and trainer to work on the hip flexors and glute muscles to even find out if I could drop my 40 yd dash time by .2 seconds or more and more importantly really quicken my first two steps to improve escapability from the pocket. Padilla is not a speed burner so might take some hits and we may need Petras sooner than later.
