Peter Jok Interview Following Pacers Workout

Excellent point.

Getting to the line at the NBA level will be even less important. Look at Korver, this year he's playing 25 minutes a game and attempting .4 free throws per game.

I almost think the NBA is a better fit for Peter so he can strictly focus on just shooting. He doesn't have to be who he isn't and attempt to dribble or create. The spacing at the NBA level is even more due to the extended 3 pt line.

Wasn't that the start of the Miss Valley's bubble when they started to have multiple teams that were good? Not that it really goes along with this conversation, but made me think when it started.

I think Korver was one of those players that took deep 3 shots anyway well past the 19' 9" line, so I'm not certain the shorter line played that much of a difference than it would for other players.

I'm sure he took plenty of shots that would have been outside today's 3 pt line but I'm fairly confident in stating that he probably had many that were not as well. Reversing it, I'm sure Pete made some 2 pt FGs that would have been 3 pointers had he played before the line got extended.

There's no way you can convince me Kyle didn't benefit in some way of having a shorter 3 Pt line. It's just a question of how big of a difference which I admit, I have no clue.

1) Peter played in the Big 10 and Kyle played in the Missouri Valley.
2) The college 3 pt line got moved back in 2008 so Kyle benefited from playing while it was at the shorter distance.

True, but I guess my point was that Korver shot 45% in college and 43% in the NBA, so there was a dropoff going to the next level, but not that much. This season, the top 40 3 point shooters in the NBA shot between 40-45%. Jok never really shot that percentage ever...in college.

A lot of kids when they can focus 100% on basketball and get paid to do it for a living can improve greatly. I think Jok has the height and the ability to do just that. It will all be up to him though. If he can shoot it, there will be a place for him

That's the way I view it as well. He had to have a benefit to a degree. It just seems like he was one of those guys who really didn't have a range. Just launched it.
