The Big10 is favored in 8 of the 11 upcoming Big10 / ACC games with Mich St, Michigan & Indiana the only teams not favored.

Iowa is currently #79 on the list. We started the season at #102.

ISU started at #175 and are now #65. They will probably end the season around the 110 to 120 mark. They have played one team in the top 100 (Creighton at #99). Iowa is currently favored by 2 points against ISU this year. It should be a great game.

UNI started at #73 and are now #109

Little sister hasn't played anybody. We will slaughter them. We're getting warmed up now.. after dumping in 111 pts last week. On our court they are dead. Pomeroy has us winning, but the margin will be much larger. Can't wait for the bloodbath.

Yikes. That's VERY confident smack talk.

I hope you're right!

You forgot to say Book it!

Haha I'd rather play nobody and be 6-0 than play nobody and be 3-3. But we'll see, it could go either way as usual. I'm most interested to see if this game can get any fans into CHA.

You are correct...

that ISU's schedule has not been difficult so far. 5 home games, with a 6th semi-home game against a (so-far) mediocre Creighton team. ISU escaped with the Vanderbeken 30-footer to beat Creighton and Creighton turned around and got handled from start to finish at Northwestern. Northwestern is actually decent, but not great. ISU's schedule is what Iowa should have had to start the season, but I digress.

But I wouldn't go anywhere near to saying Iowa will slaughter Iowa State. Cyclones do play at UNI a week before playing at Iowa City. We'll see how Cyclones respond on the road against teams that can actually fight back. Iowa is a mixed bag, good efforts against Xavier, Alabama, but losing to Long Beach State on a neutral floor and SD State on the home floor are blights.

Re: You are correct...

Losing to SD State certainly wasn't a good start to the season but keep in mind that we have a new coach, young players and a completely new system. Those shouldn't have caused us to lose the game against a mid-major team at home but SDSU is 6-0 right now. FWIW, our 10 pt loss is currently the closest game they've played ytd. They have a legit shot at winning the Summit and making the NCAA tournament too.

We are a team that is going to improve throughout the season barring any more injuries. I think we knock ISU in the mouth and beat them by double digits at home and handle UNI as well.

AMEN!

While Xavier, SDSU, and LBSU aren't world-beaters, they aren't horrible teams. Xavier is probably a 22-24 win team and a lock for the NCAA tournament (although needing 3 OTs to beat Wofford and OT to beat IUPUI-FW won't instill confidence). Long Beach will probably be in, and SDSU was a blend of first-game jitters and playing an opponent with superior experience. (SDSU plays at Minnesota on December 23, so we can see how good they really are.)

Like any team finding its footing, the bad nights will be really, really bad (SDSU), and the good nights will be exciting (SIU-E).

The next six games will tell a lot--but I wouldn't be surprised with either a 3-3 record (losing at Wake Forest, to UNI, and to Iowa State) or a 6-0 record. I would consider anything less than 3-3 a disappointment.

Bottom line is that the fact that we are starting to expect wins--even if they are against UNI, Idaho State, and Louisiana Tech--is a sign of progress.

I think there is greater disparity between ISU and Creighton than the one game would suggest.

ISU 74 Alcorn State 47 +13
Creighton 71 ASU 57

ISU 78 N. Ariz 64 + 10
Creigh 74 N Ariz 70

ISU 91 KSU 51 +22
Creigh 75 KSU 57

ISU has handled common opponents by an average of 15 points more than Creighton has handled them. I think the Iowa/ISU game will be close and a fun game to watch if the up-tempo dictates. Once ISU loses their legs they will be a world of hurt with lack of depth, but the season will still be early and I think that favors ISU.

1. ISU has a new coach, young players and a completely new system yet they are 6-0 with 5 blowouts.
2. I just don't see who on Iowa can stop Ejim, Garret, and Anderson from driving to the hoop.
3. The only way I see Iowa winning is beating ISU down low.

Against NAIA competition. The one time you've played a team with a pulse, it took an officiating **** up to give ISU the win.

I understand that most of you people have visions of the Sweet 16 right now, but the reality is that ISU is still going to finish in the bottom 1/2 of the Texas Ten.

No vision of sweet 16. NIT at best is what I'm thinking. Maybe some bubble talk.

Officials did **** up, but the foul right before that call was just as terrible. Plus who knows what would have happened in overtime.

Plus, I'll guarantee Iowa doesn't beat Drake by 48.

No one knows what would have happened in OT because the officials gave ISU the game. What might have happened is hypothetical, and therefore irrelevant.

I don't care if Iowa beats Drake by one, as long as they win. ISU hasn't left home yet; Iowa plays at Wake Forest tomorrow night.

Long Beach will probably be "in" what? They just lost at home to a winless Loyola Marymount team. SDSU won't sniff the NCAA's, although Xavier may make it but I still see them not making it. None of the teams ISU has played will sniff the tournament in my opinion. Anyone counting on Iowa being favored vs. ISU is delusional, we may win, but we certainly will not be favored unless the trends of the two drastically change.
