Per ESPN - Slow starters that can make the tourney

if iowa had a 2 who could play at or above the bartles line (or a 3 who could play above the lookingbill line, with dev at the 2), sapp would still be on the bench

gesell is the better pg, and I'd expect him to start next year if utoff steps in at the 3 (which he might not be quick enough for)

anyway, this year's team is clearly better with the three pgs on the floor at once

Yeah Im not trying to argue who I think is a better overall player. Cause I believe that is Gesell, just in the performance at PG against quality teams, Sapp has struggled less. But part of this might have had to do with who else was on the quart with Gesell and how exactly they were preformaning.
Seriously, quart?

The biggest area that Iowa has improved since Clemmons has been starting is dribble penetration from the opposing PG.

Clemmons has allowed some drives, but just watch Iowa when Gesell is playing the point and see how much driving the PG does. Mike is not a bad defender, but Clemmons is better and it has made a significant difference.

It is easier for the bigger defenders to rotate over and block shots when there is some resistance, instead of him coming down the lane full speed.

Iowa has improved on defense and rebounding from last year to this year, stopping, or limiting dribble penetration is one the big reasons for this.
