Wow. You guys have condensed Woody down to a 7"1" defensive specialist...
First, one doesn't need to be 7'1" to be a defensive specialist in the middle so Woody's height is nullified, there. He shoots shots from the elbow (not so close to the basket) so he nullifies his height, there. He can't get contested rebounds...nullifies his height, there. Won't block shots.. nullifies height.
He plays like a Ralph-Sampson-type of player but has, IMO, half the athleticism of Ralph.
Iowa, as a team, needs defenders. Seems to me it's real easy for opponents to dribble around Iowa's defenses. That leads to a necessary defense at the rim after opponents' offenses has gotten around Iowa's perimeter defenses. Gabe provides that defense. Woody doesn't.
Here's an old thought that might shore up Iowa's defense: Play Gabe at the 5 to contest the rim and Woody at the 4 (at the same time) to do what Woody likes to do.
Height has to be addressed, again. Woody doesn't take advantage of his height. IMO, a shorter player would provide more athleticism than Woody, provide the defense you guys so love from Woody, might also provide some rim 'presence' that Iowa's defense so desperately needs, and would be an easier recruit than a 7 footer.
